In the 23rd week of the Turkish Women’s Basketball League, Near East University Women’s Basketball Team maintained its leadership by defeating Beşiktaş by a score of 70-65 at the home game. Upon this win, Near East Angels have achieved 20 wins out of 23 games so far.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of the Near East University, The match, which took place at Istanbul Caferağa Sports Hall, was the scene of tough fights and breathtaking moments. Although Beşiktaş outscored and dominated the game for three periods, the Near East Angels exhibited outstanding performance and the versatile players like Courtney Vandersloot and Elin Eldebrink began to get inside the paint and drive to basket and tied the score to 59-59 during the last period. Then the Near East University got ahead with Bahar Çağlar’s two point shot at the last 5.50 minutes. The tough defense, domination in rebounds and strong team spirit of the Near East University was very striking. NEU pointers including Courtney Vandersloot and Kayla McBride achieved a serial lead of 9-2 and brought the score to 70-61 at the last 2 minutes of the game. Upon the final whistle, the Near East University left the basketball court victoriously by a score of 70-65.
