At the helm of the teachers in charge and the assistance of the photography artist Duyal Tüzün, Near East College (NEC) Photography Club students participated in the photography competition jointly organized by Civil Defence Organisation and Ministry of National Education. As a result of the competition which was held among secondary school, Near East College was awarded as the first runner up with Near East College 6th form student Halil Betmezoğlu’s photograph titled as Terzi (tailor).

According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, a jury which consisted of 4 highly competent photographers evaluated the pieces submitted to the competition, evaluating nearly 400 photographs. From these, 4 were awarded a prize and 2 which was to be exhibited. It was pointed out that Near East College student Halil Betmezoğlu’s photograph was selected as the first runner up of the competition.
