Near East University Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering student Muloh Gariba Sheron won first place in the “Student Paper Competition” held at the 21st International Petroleum and Natural Gas Congress and Exhibition held in Ankara and received a prize of 25 thousand liras.

Near East University Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering student Muloh Gariba Sheron attended the Turkey 21st International Petroleum and Natural Gas Congress and Exhibition (IPETGAS 2023) organized by the Turkish Petroleum Geologists Association, TMMOB Chamber of Petroleum Engineers and TMMOB Chamber of Geophysical Engineers in Ankara. She won the first prize in the “Master’s Degree” category in the “Student Paper Competition”. Cameroonian Muloh Gariba Sheron, who is currently continuing her education as a doctoral student at Near East University, also won the 25 thousand lira award due to her success.

At the congress, where the latest findings of oil and natural gas exploration in Turkey’s land and sea areas and neighboring countries are shared, infrastructure and strategies were discussed, and developments in renewable energy resources were evaluated by experts.

At the congress, where many national and international participants took part, Muloh Gariba Sheron from Near East University participated in the “Student Paper Contest”. She participated with her paper titled “Stimulation of a Tight Sandstone Reservoir by Hydraulic Fracturing: Taylor Sandstone, Texas”. In her work Muloh Gariba Sheron investigated productivity models after hydraulic fracturing in a vertical gas well, also used FRACPRO software designed for hydraulic fracturing processes, and examined the dimensionless conductivities with the best fracture geometry with sixteen scenarios for different perforation length, different fracturing fluid and propane. Muloh Gariba Sheron also won the first prize and a cash prize of 25 thousand TL for her scientific study.

Muloh Gariba Sheron: “I aim to carry out many new researches with the support of the Near East University Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Department.”
Muloh Gariba Sheron, who continues her doctorate at Near East University, said that the 21st International Petroleum and Natural Gas Congress and Exhibition, which she attended in Ankara, was a very good experience for her and said, “I would like to express my gratitude to Near East University Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Department, which supported me to take part in this platform.”

Muloh Gariba Sheron said that her master’s thesis is about hydraulic fracturing, which is widely used to increase production in unconventional reservoirs. “I learned a lot about research, technical and presentation skills during my master’s degree. I incorporated everything I learned into my thesis. My thesis advisor Prof. Dr. Salih Saner and Head of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Department Prof. Dr. Cavit Atalar have always supported me.”

Expressing her happiness to continue her studies at Near East University, one of the best universities in the world, Muloh Gariba Sheron said, “I aim to carry out many new researches with the support of the Near East University Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Department.”
