
In the METU URAP “2023-2024 World Field Ranking”, Near East University was ranked among the top three foundation universities in Turkey in the fields of Physical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Information and Computer Sciences, Technology, Biological Sciences and Chemical Sciences.
The “2023-2024 World Field Ranking” prepared by URAP (University Ranking by Academic Performance) by the METU Informatics Institute has been announced. Near East University, which was included in 10 fields in the ranking, became the university that was ranked in the most fields in the TRNC.
Near East University, which is among the best universities in the world in the fields of Physical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Information and Computer Sciences, Technology, Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Medicine and Health Sciences, is successful in 9 of these fields and ranked among the top 3 foundation universities in Turkey. Also, Near East University became the best foundation university in Turkey in the fields of Engineering and Physical Sciences.
Near East University was listed as the best university in Northern Cyprus in the “World University Rankings” announced by METU URAP in November, and was among the top 10 universities in Turkey as one of the two best foundation universities.

Near East Enterprises Board of Trustees Chairman Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said that they are proud to be among the best universities in the world in 10 fields in the field rankings announced by METU URAP. Emphasizing that Near East University is Turkey’s best foundation university in the fields of engineering and physical sciences, one of the two best foundation universities in four of these fields, and among the top three foundation universities in three of these fields, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “The results announced by METU URAP proves that we are one of the best universities in the world in a wide range of fields, from engineering to health, from basic sciences to environmental sciences.”
“In the rankings published by higher education rating institutions based in England, the United States, China and Türkiye, although different methodologies were used, several striking results that confirm each other stand out.” said Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, and added, “According to these results, Near East University is the best university in Northern Cyprus. Additionally, we are one of the top 3 foundation universities among universities in Turkey. These results are among the common results of all research conducted on this issue.”

Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ: “This global reputation of our university is also reflected in the preferences of our students. The fact that Near East University has been the most preferred university in Northern Cyprus for the last 8 years is the most important indicator of this.”
Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ emphasized that the results obtained in the ranking announced by METU URAP are a reflection of the research vision of Near East University. Reminding that Near East University is ranked 139th worldwide in the “Young University Rankings 2024″, in which Times Higher Education lists the best universities under 50 years of age in the world, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “This global reputation of our university is also reflected in the preferences of our students. The fact that Near East University has been the most preferred university in Northern Cyprus for the last 8 years is the most important indicator of this.”
