Near East University, which has been the most preferred university in Northern Cyprus for the last nine years, 32 percent of the 2,631 students who were placed to Near East University, preferred Near East University as their first choice. 65.4 percent of the students preferred Near East University among their first three choices. The results showed that the students who preferred Near East University did not make a coincidental decision but made a conscious decision.

Near East University, which has been the most preferred university in Northern Cyprus for the last nine years, also draws attention as the primary choice of students who prefer to study at NEU. According to the placement results of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) announced by the Assessment, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) this year, 2,631 students were placed in Near East University. While 32 percent of these students wrote Near East University as their first choice; 53 percent of them preferred it in their first two choices, and 65.4 percent of them preferred it among their first three choices.

These results showed that students who preferred Near East University did not make a coincidental decision but made a conscious decision.

Commenting on the YKS results, Near East Enterprises Board of Trustees Chairman Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel reminded that Near East University was ranked as the best university in Northern Cyprus in all rankings published in 2024, and was also shown as one of the two best foundation universities in Turkey by many of foundations assessing the achievements of the universities globally.

“In the studies where thousands of universities were assessed worldwide; we were shown as the 115th best foundation university in Europe and the 139th best young university in the world. We were also ranked 38th in the world in terms of education quality by Times Higher Education,” said Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, and added; “We are happy to see that these results, which are a reflection of our educational quality and scientific productivity, also shape our students’ preferences. The data is very important in terms of showing that our students consciously prefer Near East University.”

According to the YKS 2024 Results, Near East University was one of the top three choices of 65 percent of the 2,631 students who were placed.
