YKS general placement rate of Near East University is 80%
Near East University, which is preferred by 2105 new students in line with the 2020 YKS preference results, became the most preferred university by receiving 451 of the 1460 students who preferred North Cyprus universities in the YKS additional quota placements.
According to the statement made by the Rectorate of Near East University, 451 students, 31% of 1460 students who were placed in North Cyprus universities with an additional quota, of whom 998 were placed in undergraduate and 462 in associate degree programs, preferred Near East University. Near East University also increased the number of additional quotas which was 215 students in 2019 by 210% today. Near East University, which is the most preferred university in both 2020 YKS preferences and additional quotas, has reached an 80% general placement rate.

Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel, Chairman of Board of Trustees, emphasizing that according to the results of the 2020 YKS placement announced in August, Near East University, the most preferred university in the TRNC with 2015 students, stands out as the most preferred university with an increase of 210% in additional quota placements, said that this is an indicator of the trust in Near East University and that they are very pleased with the results.
Stating that they are a university preferred by thousands of students every year, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “Against the coronavirus pandemic affecting the world and affecting all sectors, we were chosen by 2105 students with an increase of 16% in the first placement of the YKS, and 451 students with an increase of 210% in the additional quotas of YKS. With these numbers, our being the most preferred university in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is the most concrete example of our being a trustworthy educational institution. We are a large, student-centered university with a strong educational infrastructure, with our faculties, vocational schools, institutes, research, and application centers. In addition to the technological infrastructure, our academic quality also reveals that we are a reassuring university,”

Students who preferred Near East University at the additional quota can complete their registration process between 5-9 October 2020 at the Representative Offices of Near East University in Turkey and on the campus of Near East University in TRNC.
