Near East University Student Doruk Kırıtoğlu Achieves International Success

In an international poster exhibition featuring over 300 works from 23 countries, the work of Near East University student Doruk Kırıtoğlu was selected among the outstanding pieces, highlighted by the jury for its creativity and visual impact.

Near East University’s Faculty of Communication continues to make a name for itself with the achievements of its students on international platforms. Doruk Kırıtoğlu, a second-year student in the Visual Communication Design Department, made a significant achievement at the “Eyes Looking at Water from Gönen to Marmara” exhibition held in Balıkesir as part of World Water Day.

The exhibition, organized to draw attention to the vital importance of water and the protection of the ecosystem, included over 300 works from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, China, Egypt, France, Hungary, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Mexico, Pakistan, Palestine, Poland, Romania, Syria, Somalia, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, the USA, Northern Cyprus, India, and Thailand. Representing Near East University, Kırıtoğlu’s poster was selected among the distinguished works after passing the assessment of the international jury.

The exhibition, focusing on the ecosystem of the Gönen River and the value of water, received great acclaim from the audience. The opening ceremony was held with a large attendance at the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Gönen Additional Service Building. Gönen District Governor Ahmet Altıntaş, Deputy Mayor Mehmet Yılman, Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University Gönen Vocational School Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adem Korkmaz, and many art lovers attended the ceremony.

Academic knowledge transformed into design…

Doruk Kırıtoğlu prepared his successful poster within the scope of the “GIT286 Visual Design II” course under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Fuat Boğaç Evren, a faculty member of the Visual Communication Design Department. In this process, where theoretical education was transferred to practice and an international platform, Kırıtoğlu received full marks in creativity, originality, and visual impact criteria, reflecting the message of water conservation and its transmission to future generations through an artistic language.

Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap, Dean of the Faculty of Communication of Near East University, said, “Our students’ prominence in such prestigious events is not only an individual achievement; it is also proof of our faculty’s educational approach and our vision to train our young designers to world standards.” He emphasized that the successes of students on international platforms are a great source of pride for the faculty. Commenting on Kırıtoğlu’s poster exhibited as part of World Water Day, Prof. Dr. Kasap said, “Doruk’s work effectively visualizes the issue of water conservation by combining creativity, aesthetic language, and a message of social awareness.”

Prof. Dr. Kasap noted that such international events offer unique opportunities for students to put their academic knowledge into practice. Kasap said, “The most important thing for us is that our students can apply the theory they learn in real life and express their own visions in an original way. These achievements are not just an individual award. They are also proof of our students’ sense of social responsibility and their ability to showcase their creativity on international platforms. We will continue to support our young designers in opening up to the world and making their voices heard strongly.”
