Near East University researchers visited Sharjah University to review ongoing joint studies and develop collaboration opportunities

Near East University and Sharjah University, one of the leading universities in the United Arab Emirates, continue to conduct joint scientific studies within the framework of the bilateral cooperation protocol signed in 2022. Near East University researchers visited Sharjah University to review ongoing studies and develop collaboration opportunities.

The delegation, consisting of Near East University DESAM Research Institute Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cenk Serhan Özverel, Near East University Health Operations Center Director Prof. Dr. Dilber Uzun Özşahin and Near East University Faculty of Engineering Mathematics Lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Berna Uzun, were welcomed by Sharjah University Research Institute For Medical And Health Sciences Director Prof. Dr. Rahib Halwani.

In the meeting between Assoc. Prof. Prof. Dr. Özverel and Prof. Dr. Rahib Halwani, it was decided to sign a sub-protocol to strengthen cooperation between the two institutes in terms of researcher and student exchange, increasing ongoing joint projects and initiating applications for new joint projects. The aim of the sub-protocol signed between the parties is to strengthen the academic and research cooperation between the two universities.

As part of the visit, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cenk Serhan Özverel also gave a seminar participated intensively. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özverel made his presentation titled ‘Artificial Intelligence, Areas of Use of Mathematical Models in Clinical and Infection Microbiology’ at the seminar.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cenk Serhan Özverel, Director of the Near East University DESAM Research Institute, said that “Our ongoing cooperation with Sharjah University has great scientific and academic value,” and added that the visit further strengthened the strong ties between the two institutions.


“As Near East University, we study hard with great excitement and enthusiasm to take part in joint projects, increase the sharing of knowledge and experience, and contribute to the development of young researchers at the international level.” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cenk Serhan Özverel, adding, “I believe that our joint studies, especially in critical areas such as the applications of artificial intelligence and mathematical modeling in health sciences, will increase the research capacity and international visibility of both universities.”
