Near East University once more represented at the Lions International Short Film Competition where in recent years Ömer Evre had won the "Best Cinematography Director" and Gokalp Yamen the "Best Director" awards.
According to a press statment released by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of Near East University, Gökalp Yamen, graduate of NEU Radio and Cinema Department, has managed to become a finalist in the competition with the film called "They Shot Me Out of Dardanalles" which was made a graduation project.
The film, supported by the Communication Research Centre under Center of Excellence, tells the tragic story of hundreds of Turkish troops taken as prisoners and were brought to Cyprus during the Dardanelles War. The film was dedicated to fallen soldiers of Dardanelles War. Gökalp Yamen won the "Best Director Award" at the Lions POSTAL-74 short film competion.
