Near East University receives Poster Award at XVI. Medical Biology and Genetics Congress

Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy, Vocational School of Health, Genetic and Cancer Diagnosis Research Center and Faculty of Medicine Department of Medical Genetics faculty members attended to XVI. National Medical Genetics Congress held in Bodrum. The third prize of poster awards was given to Near East University.

According to the information provided by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, more than 450 leading scientists of biology and genetic science gathered at the congress. Near East University Faculty of Medicine Lecturer, Head of Medical Genetics Department , Center of Excellence and Genetics, and Cancer Diagnosis-Research Center Prof. Dr. Nedime Serakıncı took place among the “Keynote speakers", while the faculty member of the Biochemistry Department of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eda Becer made an oral presentation, and a member of Vocational School of Health, Department of Medical Biology Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuğçe Balcı Okcanoğlu made a poster presentation.

In the 16th Medical Biology and Genetics Congress held this year, 99 papers and 106 poster presentations were made in addition to conferences and panels in which foreign speakers and invited speakers took part. Prof. Dr. Nedime Serakıncı made a speech titled "The role of medicinal aromatic plant essential oils in increasing the efficacy of cell-based cancer therapies". Prof. Dr. Serakıncı also took part in the congress as chairman and member of the Scientific Committee.

Third Prize in poster presentations…
Along with the presentations made in the congress, awards given to posters, papers, young researchers and Prof. Dr. Altan Günalp received an award.

Vocational School of Health, Department of Medical Biology member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuğçe Balcı Okcanoğlu's poster representing the joint study titled "Vs-5584, Ponatinib increases the anti-proliferative effect on chronic myoloid cells" and carried out with Ege University Faculty of Medicine Department of Medical Biology received the third prize in poster presentations. Near East University, Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Biochemistry member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eda Becer made an oral presentation at the congress, too.
