The international higher education rating agency AD Scientific Index has announced the list of “The World’s Best Universities 2023”. Near East University, which is listed as the best university in the TRNC, ranked 5th in Turkey and 408th among 3,492 universities in Europe.
The international higher education rating agency AD Scientific Index has announced the “World’s Best Universities 2023” list, which ranks the world’s best scientists and universities. In the list, which evaluated 15,175 universities around the world last year, 19,521 universities in the world were ranked according to their academic performance this year. In the list; 3,492 universities from Europe, 256 from Turkey and 10 from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus took part.
Near East University ranked 5th in Turkey and 408th in Europe in the list, which is by far the best university in the TRNC.
Based on Google Scholar data, the list, which evaluates the academic publication and citation performances of universities and scientists for the last five years, was created by analyzing the annual, five-year and total values of the h-index and i10 index criteria.
Two names from the Near East University are among the top 500 academics in the world!
In the list of the best universities in the world by AD Scientific Index, 1,192,235 scientists were also evaluated according to their academic performances. Near East University made its mark on the list of the best academics of the TRNC. 9 of the top 10 academicians of the TRNC; 15 of the top 20 academicians were from Near East University.
Standing out with his “High Energy Physics” studies at the Near East University, which is shown as the first two academicians of the TRNC, Prof. Dr. Isa Dumanoğlu and physicist Prof. Dr. Kerem Cankoçak were also among the top 500 academics in the world. Prof. Dr. Dumanoğlu, Prof. Dr. Cankoçak and Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Kemal Hüsnü Can Başer were shown as the top three academicians of the TRNC.
While 177 names from Near East University are included in the best scientists ranking of AD Scientific Index, three of them are in the best 2 percent of the world rankings; 16 of them are in the top 10 percent; 25 of them are in the top 20 percent.
Reminding that Near East University was ranked as the best in the TRNC and the second best foundation university in Turkey in the “World Universities Ranking 2023” published by METU URAP last week, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “We are very happy that the data of AD Scientific Index, one of the important international higher education rating institutions, has confirmed the same results.”
Emphasizing that this success is the result of a long-term vision and work, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “Our vision of education based on scientific production, R&D, art and technology will continue to carry our university and our country to the top of the world rankings.” Prof. Dr. Günsel also congratulated the academics of the Near East University, who had a great share in this success.
