
An informative meeting was held within the scope of the Near East University Erasmus Exchange programs.
According to the press information provided by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of the Near East University, in the meeting held in Hall 101 of the Near East University Hospital, extensive information was given about the internship and research exchange programs of Erasmus Program that have been realized for a long time, which enables students to gain professional training or work experience abroad.
In the meeting, Near East University Vice Rector. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Dean of Students Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum, Club Mentors; Prof. Dr. Nevbahar Turgan (Near East University Medical Student Association), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emil Mammadov (Northern Cyprus Medical Student Association), Assist. Prof. Dr. Özay Önöral (Dental Student Association) and Erasmus representatives; Assist. Prof. Dr. Kuzeymen Balıkçı (Medical Faculty Erasmus Specialist), Assist. Prof. Dr. Hazal Özyurt (Food Engineering Department Erasmus Specialist) was present.
Students come for internship from various European countries...
The opening speech of the meeting was made by the Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, who stated that despite the difficulties they have been carrying out the Erasmus exchange studies since the last five years and they are happy to reach an important point.
Stating that they started the Erasmus exchange program, which started five years ago with the PhD students for the first time and without publicizing the progress because of political pressures, Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ explained that two students from the Faculty of Nursing was sent to Lithuania for the first time for internship studies.
Speaking about the past internship exchanges, Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ said "Students from Poland, Slovenia and Slovakia came to internship at the Faculty of Dentistry. Last year we accepted students to the Faculty of Medicine within the scope of internship exchange. This year, students came for internship exchange with Erasmus program to the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing and Engineering. In the upcoming period, our academicians will also open to the world with the Erasmus program."
"Our diplomas are valid in European countries…”
Emphasizing that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is under political embargoes and that it is being pierced through universities, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said students from more than 120 countries study higher education programs and the diplomas conferred upon them, including the medical, dental, nursing, engineering diplomas, are valid in all countries.

Erasmus Student Exchange Programs Are Conducted Successfully…
Near East University Dean of Students Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum Yavuz gave information about the structure and ortanization of the Deanery of Students, and about the status of the students in the Erasmus exchange program.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özkum Yavuz said, “This year, the Faculty of Nursing and Engineering has been added to our Erasmus Internship Research Exchange programs. Within the scope of Erasmus, 4 students came to the Faculty of Nursing (Lithuania), 2 students to the Faculty of Medicine (Poland) and 1 student to the Department of Food Engineering (Slovakia). Our students received admission to the Faculty of Nursing in Lithuania. In July, the Dental Association received 13 exchange students, including Jordan, the Czech Republic, Poland and Iraq. 4 of our students are currently in internship program in Poland within the scope of the exchange program. Within the scope of the research exchange, two students started their research in the Faculty of Dentistry in Jordan.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özkum Yavuz also added that within the framework of the contract signed with the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA) representing the world medical students including the Northern Cyprus Medical Students Association (MSANC), and students from Germany, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Czech Republic, Denmark, Morocco, Croatia, Italy, Spain (Catalonia), Sweden, Hungary, Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine came to our country. In July and August, 39 students from various universities of Turkey and 22 students from various universities of the world came to our country.

Near East University Dean of Students Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum Yavuz stated that the Deanary of Students will continue to support all the clubs and associations on this issue, and expressed her gratitude to the board of directors and advisors of the associations, Erasmus officials, Vice Rector Prof.Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel and especially Günsel Family for their vision, cooperation and support in Erasmus, Internship and Research Exchange Projects.
Research Projects Exchange Programs Started…
Speaker of Dentistry Student Association mentor Assist. Prof. Dr. Özay Önöral said that they have achieved great success with the exchange programs, and this year, for the first time, two students have successfully conducted their research through a newly opened program called Research Exchange.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Önöral emphasized that students coming from abroad had an intensive internship program on surgery, dentures, restorative dental treatment and social programs.
Near East University Medical Student Association mentor Prof. Dr. Nevbahar Turgan said that a comprehensive education is given at the Faculty of Medicine in Turkish and English languages and students coming here from abroad gain as well as the students going abroad to meet different cultures and make an important contribution to future medical view.
Faculty of Medicine Erasmus Specialist Assist. Prof. Dr. Kuzey Balıkçı expressed that Near East University is enlisted in the top 10 universities of Turkey, and the exchange programs provide a positive contribution to recognition of the TRNC.
After the speeches, the students who came to our country through the Erasmus exchange program shared their experiences. The meeting ended with a collective photo shoot.
