Near East University Museums and Exhibitions Free-of-charge to visit during World Art Week

During the World Art Week, all the museums and exhibitions held at 9 different venues on campus are free-of-charge for the TRNC citizens...
Near East University, which has realized many projects in order to transform our country into a center of culture and art in the world, announced that all the museums and 9 different exhibitions can be visited for a week free-of-charge within the scope of World Art Day. Within the scope of World Art Day Activities, Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts will bring art lovers together with two different exhibitions of artists from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

According to a press statement released by the Near East University Press and Public Relations Directorate, due to the World Art Week, the museums in the Near East University and the exhibitions held at 9 different venues will be free to visit for all Cyprus citizens for a week.

Successfully fulfilling the mission of making the Turkish Cypriot people love art, the Near East University will celebrate the 15th of April, which is the birthday of artist Leonardo da Vinci, as the World Art Day and bring the art lovers together with two different exhibitions.

Will host Colorful Exhibitions...
As part of the exhibitions of Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts which has hosted 22 exhibitions since it was established and within the scope of the World Art Week, the Exhibition of Artists from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, which consists of two exhibitions with 40 artworks, was opened by Minister of Interior Affairs Ayşegül Baybars at the Near East University Ataturk Culture and Congress Centre Exhibition Halls.


Görkem Bulunç: ”Art is another "world" telling about "this world"...
Görkem Bulunç, the Director of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, congratulated all artists and art lovers on the occasion of April 15th World Art Day.

In his message, stating is hopes that the art and the artists always share a part of our lives, said "We would like to congratulate all the artists of the Turkic World who are trying to perform art in different geographies of the world and the 15th World Art Day of the world art community and thank them for making the opportunity to bring together different people from different countries with a common common understanding."

Director Bulunç stating that the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, which currently hosts more than 6000 works of art and will open its doors on November 15, 2020 at its new building, pointed out that the number of artworks hosted by the museum is expected to reach 20000 by 2020. Bulunç said that hundreds of artists from countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tatarstan, Kazakhstan, Bashkortostan and Georgia have been conducting workshops and opening exhibitions and over 100 workshops are planned to be carried out up to 2020.

Görkem Bulunç stated that art exists to create and share the common feelings, thoughts and values, and art bring people closer together. Bulunç said "Art is for people to understand each other. It is another world that tells the world we live in with different emotions. It is for the realization of social and universal peace. The best way to express the importance of art in society lies in the words of Atatürk, who said "A nation without art is a nation without one of the main arteries...". Art is creativity, it improves human appreciation and societies develop as much as they give importance to art. As the Near East University, we will always remind that art is a source of inspiration and we will continue to create opportunities to bring art and people together."
