In 2018, Academic Members of Near East University made over 1200 international publications in journals indexed in Web of Science and in Scopus databases. Through this achievement, Near East University is among the first 10 universities in Turkey, and in the first 5 with publication made per academic member.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, due to more than 1200 international publications made by Near East University scholars in journals indexed in two world wide used databases, Web of Science and Scopus, it has become among the first 10 state and foundation universities in Turkey; alongside being among the first 5 based on publications made per academician.

More than 1200 Publications in 8 different fields were made in 2018…
Details were provided regarding the publications made by the scholars of Near East University, stating that the publications were in Fundamental Sciences, Medicine and Health Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Educational Sciences, Social Sciences and Sciences. In fact, it was emphasised that the publications were found to be 86.5% original.

Continuing to improve the scientific research conducted by both within the Near East University per se and in our country, it has rightfully proved its reputability at national and international platforms via its esteemed academic endeavours. Such that in 2018, the international publications made by Near East University academicians positioned the university among the first 10 state and foundation universities. Furthermore, once considering the number of researches conducted by scholars, again Near East University is found within the first 5 universities. Additionally, number of publications and number of citations made in national and international production performances reveal the successful position to which the Near East University has achieved to be in.

The Best Research Awards presented in International Congresses…
Moving on its path for freedom in science, in 2018, Near East University academicians attended a total of 11 congresses, 9 of which were international congresses and were presented 14 best research awards.

Joint Projects are being carried out with Prestigious universities of the world such as Universities of Harvard, Oxford and Exeter…
As one of the leading universities of education-training and research, Near East University Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit (YDÜ-BAP) is currently running joint projects with highly prestigious universities in the world; for instance, University of Harvard, Oxford and Exeter. The projects are expressed to be on education and training-requiring cooperation in research and joint publications. It was pointed out that currently, 176 projects conducted under the body of Near East University Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit were being funded by the Near East University.

3 Patent Applications have been made in the fields of Pharmacy, Medicine and Engineering…
Near East University is fully aware and is proud to fulfil the required dimensions of science-invention-technology-method since it aims to contribute to the development of the country; alongside the welfare of the public. In addition to the scientific research, publications and awards received in congresses, Near East University has made 3 patent applications within the last month in the fields of pharmacy, medicine and engineering. Moreover, future plans to increase the number of patents and innovative works in order to commercialise products have also been stated by the university authorities.

Technology Transfer Company has been established…
Near East University is progressing on the path to becoming a 4th Generation University by using its academic accumulations to produce products and thus work to meet the needs of the society. For this purpose, a Technology Transfer Company was founded; providing the basis to protect the rights of transforming the academic studies into the product, and to integrate the academic accumulation produced with this vision into the industry and therefore commercialize.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel: “By increasing the number of scientific publications, we are determined to reach top level competition with world universities…”
Making a statemen, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, emphasised that in order to keep up with the globalisation of the world, universities are constantly required to renew themselves and conduct R & D (Research and Development). He added that one of the key indications of development in science and technology was the international publications made.

In addition to the above, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel expressed that in 2018, Near East University academicians made more than 1200 scientific publications and that this was rather a great achievement. He expressed that as a university, this achievement made them highly proud and happy as this was a previously set goal for the university to attain.

Making publications in world renown databases “Web of Science” and “Scopus”, he congratulated the Near East University academicians for positioning the university among the first 10 universities in Turkey; as well as being in the first 3 universities based on number of publications made by each academician. Moreover, he expressed that the Near East University Academicians made their international peer-reviewed publications in accordance with the international rules and regulations. He stressed that this success, achieved through meticulous and devoted studies of the NEU academicians, indicated that the NEU has reached the top of the competition between world universities.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, reminded that the NEU gave Scientific Publication Achievement Awards annually so that they encouraged continuation of publications at this level and emphasised the significance of making a scientific contribution to the literature. He ended his words by stating that they had taken on the responsibility of announcing and presenting scientific contributions to the society.
