On the gameday 19 of Turkish Women's Basketball Super League, Near East University Women's Basketball Team lost the road game versus Fenerbahçe 66-65.

According to the info delivered by Near East University Sports Club, Near East University played a road game versus Fenerbahçe at Metro Energy Arena in Istanbul on Sunday March 4, 2018 and lost the game 66-65. Near East University started the game with Courtney Vandersloot, Kayla McBride, Quanitra Hollingsworth, Jantel Lavender and Cansu Köksal. The periods ended 26-16, 46-30, 59-47, and 66-65.

On their ground, Fenerbahçe started the game with a high tempo and effective zone defense. Towards the end of the first five minutes of the first quarter, Fenerbahçe's in form players propelled their team to two digit lead 15 - 4. Continuing to dominate the game, Fenerbahçe completed the first period with a win 26-16.

After a devastating first period of 26-16, Near East University tried to fight back in the second quarter. However, Fenerbahçe choked all the ways with tough defense and didn't give chance to their rival to make up the gap. Near East University could score only 14 points while Fenerbahçe scored 20 points and won the first half 46 - 30.

During the third quarter, Near East University's players exerted great effort to make up the gap. Towards the last minutes (at 05.06), the difference downed to 10 points 53-43. However, both teams experienced many turnovers and difficulty in driving the ball to basket during the last 5 minutes. The period ended 59-47.


In the final quarter, Near East University exerted great effort and high performance to grab and get the game. Being effective with Sandrine Gruda and Courtney Vandersloot, Near East University melted the difference and led the game 59-60 at 5.50. Near East University made the difference 4 points (59-63) towards the last two minutes of the game. Near East University scored only 2 points while Fenerbahçe scored 6 points in the last two minutes of the game. Fenerbahçe won this challenging game 66-65.
