Near East University Lifelong Education Center provided “Crisis Management” and “Emotional Balance and Coping with Stress” training to civil society and public institutions

Members of the Near East University Lifelong Education Center (YABEM) gave “Crisis Management” and “Emotional Balance and Coping with Stress” to Civilian Disaster Team Association (SAT-DER), Civil Defense Department, Nicosia Turkish Municipality and Forestry Department and the Association of Keeping Champion Angels Alive.

Activities aimed at building a bridge between law enforcement and civil society and increasing the competencies of personnel who will intervene in possible disaster situations were carried out within the scope of social responsibility. In the training provided, the definition and types of crises, the causes of crises and effective communication strategies in times of crisis were discussed. The issues of creating and implementing crisis management plans were also discussed during the training. Effective decision-making processes in times of crisis were also discussed in the training, and techniques for maintaining emotional balance and coping with stress were also discussed.


Focused on emotional intelligence and stress management!

In the program organized by YABEM, Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education faculty member Prof. Dr. Behçet Öznacar made a presentation on “Crisis Management”, and Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Faculty Member Assist. Prof. Dr. Tijen Zeybek made a presentation titled “Emotional balance and coping with stress”. The training focused on how emotional intelligence and stress management can be used in personal and professional life, and was supported by practical examples from real life. At the end of the training, certificates were presented to the participants.

Reminding that the trainings they organize have an important role in the professional and personal development of individuals, Near East University Lifelong Education Center Director Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Hürsen said, “We aim to continue similar trainings within the scope of social responsibility. With these trainings, we will continue to serve the benefit of society by improving the abilities and potential of individuals.”

Prof. Dr. Hürsen said that they implemented the “Crisis Management” and “Emotional Balance and Coping with Stress” trainings in cooperation with Near East University, Civilian Disaster Team Association and Association of Keeping Champion Angels Alive, and that they will continue to carry out training based on inter-institutional collaborations.

Emphasizing that Near East University considers social responsibility awareness as an indispensable part of its corporate identity, Prof. Dr. Hürsen said, “Strengthening the ties between institutions and increasing coordination will have a life-saving effect in possible crisis situations.”
