Near East University hosted the International Conference on Interdisciplinary Educational Reflections 2019

Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education and Educational Sciences jointly organised a conference titled as International Conference on Interdisciplinary Educational Reflections which was hosted by Near East University.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, the conference was realised at İrfan Günsel Congress Centre which included scientific studies conducted at universities in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, alongside oral and poster presentations made by academicians from various different countries such as Turkey, Nigeria and Iraq.

Providing further details, it was stated that Ana Perez-Escoda form Spain Salamanca University, Minister Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hilmi Çolakoğlu, from the Ministry of Education of Turkey, and Head of Department of Biology Education of Gazi University Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yel made speeches and provided insights regarding their specialised fields.

Dr. Ana Perez-Escoda provided details on being a digital citizen in the European system and sharing learning environments in the digital age. On the other hand, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yel and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hilmi Çolakoğlu pointed out the need for reflections and research in the field of education.


Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt: “Conferences Hold an Important Place in Science Production and Sharing in Universities …”
It was expressed that subsequent to a minute’s silence and the national anthem, the opening speech was made by the Vice Rector of Near East University Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt who stated that as a new generation university, the importance of new learning environments and development of teachers in new learning styles were increasing day by day.

Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Mirici: “ICIER 2020 will again be held at our University in March, 2019…”
In his speech, Dean of Atatürk Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Mirici expressed details on the aim, significance and scope of the ICIER conference. Furthermore, he stated that Atatürk Faculty of Education and Educational Sciences Institute jointly initiated a rather fruitful and significant conference series. Moreover, Prof. Dr. Mirici shared his thoughts and feelings regarding the conference and emphasised that although it was the first of the conference series to follow, more than hundred oral and presentations were involved. He said that they were rather pleased that ICIER 2019 was completed with success and pointed out that after evaluations of the referees, all the presentations are to be published, as full-texts, primarily in Near East University Journal of Education (NEUJE) and other various scientific journals. Additionally, he said that ICIER 2020 is once again to be hosted by Near East University in March, 2020. In fact, due to positive feedbacks, they were expecting a higher number of participants from many different countries.


Prof. Dr. Fahriye Altınay: “Research has become a basic tool today and thinking has replaced memorization! ”
In her speech, Head of Educational Sciences Prof. Dr. Fahriye Altınay Aksal expressed that in the world of today, thinking began where memorisation ended, and that research had become a basic tool.

Moreover, on the path to achieving quality in higher education, internationalisation, research, project, education, training and social responsibility all gained significance via the conferences held. Prof. Dr. Altınay added that although Educational Sciences Institute began its educational services in 2000, it gave graduates who are pioneers and firsts in both science and service production. She said that on behalf of the Educational Sciences Institute, the education journal was introduced via this first conference within the scope of their institute strategic plan.

Invitations were made for the Conference to be held in 2020…
Conference Chairs Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Mirici and Prof. Dr. Fahriye Altınay stated that ICIER 2019 was also held as a means to promote the journal jointly initiated by Atatürk Faculty of Education and Educational Sciences Institute, Near East University Online Journal of Education (NEUJE). He added that the first issue of the journal has been published and pointed out that the conference played an important role in contributing to academic development. Finally, the entire educational community was invited to participate in the ICIER 2020.
