Near East University hosted Prof. Dr. Arif Hepbaşlı as the keynote speaker of the second forum of the Conference Series-100 Turkish Scientists

In order to provide a platform for scholars to address scientific issues, to present their scientific studies and promote the production of science, Near East University is holding a series of conferences titled as “100 Turkish Scientists”. The conference series targets to host figures who are known as the best figures in their relative fields and whose studies have been highly referred to; in the words academicians who are among the best 100 Turkish scientists. It was stated that very recently Prof. Dr. Arif Hepbaşlı, who is known for his national and international studies on energy systems was hosted as the 2nd guest of the conference series.

Information on Energy Management Systems and Energy Systems Engineering was provided

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, the keynote speaker of the secaond forum of the conference series on 100 reasons to make science was Prof. Dr. Arif Hepbaşlı; a well known figure who has numerous national and international studies on energy systems on Monday, 17th October 2017.

It was pointed out that the conference which Prof. Dr. Arif Hepbaşlı was actualised in two sessions. At the first session, information on 50001 energy management system standards was provided; whereas at the second session, information on projects run by the Department of Energy Systems Engineering of Yaşar University, a department which was established in 2012, was given.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Arif Hepbaşlı said that over the past years, the world was undergoing a change and that energy management system was a concept which is an issue that is accepted to emerge from this change. Furthermore, he stressed that all well-developed countries had energy policies based on economical development, sustaining the environment and energy security.

Mentioning Turkey’s aims on energy to be achieved by 2023 Prof. Dr. Arif Hepbaşlı stated that at least 30% of the energy was being planned to be attained via renewable energy sources which in return will enable to decrease energy use to 20%. He emphasised that in order to achieve this aim, there was a need for systematic approach to the issue such as via Energy Management System.

Subsequent to answering questions at the end of the conference, Prof Dr. Arif Hepbaşlı ended his conference by expressing how honoured he was to be invited to the conference series- the 100 Turkish Scientists of Near East University, Then, Vice Rector of Near East University Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt presented a gratitude plaque to Prof. Dr. Arif Hepbaşlı and expressed that the valuable information on energy management system provided by Prof Dr. Arif Hepbaşlı will be used to establish a coordination centre of energy management system at the Near East University.
