Near East University Hospital has become the health sponsor of the TRNC Kickboxing and Muaythai Federation. Having already sponsored the Football, Gymnastics, and Hunting federations in 2025, Near East University Hospital continues to support sports with a scientific and health-based approach.
Expanding its corporate health support to sports, Near East University Hospital has become the health sponsor of the TRNC Kickboxing and Muaythai Federation. The signing ceremony, held at the Cyprus Car Museum, brought together leading figures from the kickboxing and muaythai community. The protocol was signed by Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Near East Enterprises, and Ümit Nusret, President of the TRNC Kickboxing and Muaythai Federation.

The health sponsorship protocol aims to strengthen the health insurance of athletes, coaches, and referees affiliated with the federation, as well as federation and club administrators, to support sports on a scientific basis, and to create a sustainable sports structure. Under the protocol, athletes’ periodic health check-ups, treatment, and rehabilitation processes will be carried out with the modern medical infrastructure and expert healthcare teams of Near East University Hospital, Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia University Hospital, and Near East University Yeniboğaziçi Hospital. In addition, joint scientific projects focusing on performance analysis, athlete nutrition, injury prevention, and athlete development will be implemented.

Thus, following the Football, Gymnastics, and Hunting federations, for which Near East University Hospital became a health sponsor in 2025, the Kickboxing and Muaythai Federation has also joined the health sponsorship network.

Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel: “Our aim is to increase the interest of Turkish Cypriot youth and all young people who consider this land their homeland in sports, and to offer them higher quality and safer opportunities.”
Speaking at the protocol ceremony, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Near East Enterprises, said, “Our aim is to increase the interest of Turkish Cypriot youth and all young people who consider this land their homeland in sports, and to offer them more qualified and safe opportunities.”

Recalling that Near East University has been involved in professional sports in many branches for many years, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “We wanted to offer the experience and energy we gained during this process, especially with our strength in the field of health, to our athletes. This is because we see sports as a vision that builds the future, a labor of love.”

Saying, “Our hearts are one, our goal is common,” Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel added, “I believe that once our hearts are united, we will carry this small but strong country much further, to much brighter tomorrows.”

Ümit Nusret: “Our aim is to create a strong structure where our young people can feel safe and look to the future with hope.”
Stating that they aim to enter the new year with solid and strong steps, the President of the TRNC Kickboxing Federation, Ümit Nusret, said, “Our goal is to create a strong structure where our young people can feel safe and look to the future with hope.” Emphasizing that health is one of the most important problems in the world, Ümit Nusret said, “Unexpectedly emerging viruses and diseases seriously affect societies. Alongside all this, we are saddened to see that our young people are moving away from sports and trying to grow up in front of desks, computer screens, and unfortunately, harmful habits.”

Stating that many young people who are passionate about sports and involved in sports will have much broader opportunities thanks to the opportunities offered by Near East University, Ümit Nusret said, “Thanks to this collaboration, we will both support our young people who are involved in sports and guide children who want to start sports away from harmful habits and towards education, science, sports, and art. We will work together to ensure that our young people grow up as healthy, conscious, and strong individuals.”
