Near East University Hospital has become the second center in the world to use the revolutionary “MetaSystems Artificial Intelligence (AI) Supported Chromosome and FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) Imaging System” with artificial intelligence support and the ability to obtain images with a 20x lens for the first time in the world.

Genetic screening and analysis provide early diagnosis of cancer and many genetic diseases and early intervention for specialists. Standing out as one of the most advanced centers in the field of genetic diagnosis in Northern Cyprus, Near East University Hospital Medical Genetic Diagnosis Laboratory continues to increase its service capacity with state-of-the-art systems.

With its artificial intelligence support and the ability to obtain images with a 20x lens for the first time in the world, the Near East University Hospital, which started using the revolutionary “MetaSystems Artificial Intelligence (AI) Supported Chromosome and FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) Imaging System”, has become the second center in the world to have this system.

Genetic screenings for cancer will now take 1.5 minutes!

The system, which can perform genetic analysis processes much faster and more efficiently, also significantly improves the accuracy and quality of test results. Thanks to its new system, the Near East University Hospital Genetics Laboratory will be able to analyze metaphases obtained from various samples such as peripheral blood, bone marrow, amniotic fluid, abortion material, chorionic villus material and cord blood with the support of artificial intelligence. This system, which brings revolutionary innovations to genetic analysis processes, offers the opportunity to reliably classify and detect abnormal chromosome structures with the support of artificial intelligence.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mahmut Çerkez Ergören said, “Genetic analyses that take an average of 1.5-2 hours will be reduced to approximately 1.5 minutes with MetaSystems.”


Simultaneous scanning and analysis feature

This system, which has the ability to obtain images with a 20x lens for the first time in the world, can analyze an area with high cell numbers in FISH scans in a short time of one minute. It can also perform chromosome and FISH scans simultaneously. It offers the opportunity to perform FISH scans in a bright environment, without using immersion oil, and to perform both scanning and analysis at the same time. These features greatly increase the speed and efficiency of genetic analysis processes.
