Being the health sponsor of the 42nd Güzelyurt Orange Festival, Near East University Hospital organized a blood donation campaign during the event and became a beacon of hope for hundreds of people by collecting 125 units of blood.
The 42nd Güzelyurt Orange Festival was realized between June 28 and July 07, 2019. As the health sponsor of the event, Near East University Hospital set up booths at the festival not only for blood donation but also skin analysis, blood sugar test and blood pressure measurement free of charge. Those who visited Near East University Hospital's booths were also provided information about hospital's health services including smile laser and obesity surgery services.
To provide support to blood donation and draw attention to a vital issue was the core of the campaign
Blood to be donated once or twice a year is very vital for patients in need of blood transfusion, especially for persons who are in need of regular blood transfusion. In order to draw attention to the vital role of blood donation and provide opportunity for voluntary blood offer, Near East University Hospital has been organizing blood donation campaigns for years at the festivals and fairs held across the country. Near East University has undertaken it as a social responsibility to create public awareness in our country, where blood donation is not at a satisfactory level, with the purpose of giving hope and life to hundreds or thousands of people.
125 units of blood were donated during the campaign
Delivering information on behalf of the personnel, who were employed at Near East University booths and collected 125 units of blood at the 42nd Güzelyurt Orange Festival,, Mutlu Atasayan, Administrative Supervisor of Near East University Hospital Güzelyurt Dispensary, drew attention to the vital importance of blood donation.

He also stated that the Near East University Hospital has been the health sponsor of the Güzelyurt Orange Festival since the opening of the Güzelyurt Dispensary.
Güzelyurt Dispensary of Near East University Hospital has been in the service of the people since 2015. Since its opening, Güzelyurt Dispensary has been in close collaborations with NGOs, public institutions and Güzelyurt Municipality. Güzelyurt Dispensary always undertakes active role in the activities held in the region and considers it as a duty to contribute to the people living in the region both in the field of healthcare and social responsibility. In this context, since the establishment of our dispensary in Güzelyurt, Near East University Hospital, which has proven itself as a world brand hospital, has been the health sponsor of Güzelyurt Orange Festival, which has been known as a brand activity across the country. To be the health sponsor of such a prominent festival has honored us, as Near East University family. During the festival which lasted for 10 days, blood sugar tests and blood pressure measurements were performed for more than 1000 people who visited our booths set up within the festival area. Throughout the festival our ambulance and health personnel intervened in emergent health issues free of charge. Besides, 125 units of blood were donated at our booths within the scope of our blood donation campaign. blood donations are outmost importance as blood transfusion is the only available treatment for some patients, especially for thalassemia patients to survive. 125 units of blood that donated were delivered to the respective authorities” said he.
