Stating that with the decrease in the number of cases in China, there has been an increase in other countries around the world especially since March 3. Prof. Dr. H. Kaya Süer said that at the time when the first cases began to be seen, the 1% rate calculated when compared to China was increased to 25% today.

In the light of these data, it can be said that the spread of the virus is still continuing. Prof. Dr. H. Kaya Süer continued as follows; “Since a case has been detected in our country, we need to increase the measures and take precautions, be informed about this issue, be aware of it, and be conscious of how we can protect ourselves and those around us. First of all, I would like to share that there is no need to panic. Secondly, it is necessary to be aware and increase awareness. Thirdly, it is necessary to know the measures that can be taken for protection and finally to be able to apply them. If the protection measures are known and implemented, the spread of the virus can be significantly reduced.”

Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Kaya Süer; “There is no need for healthy people to wear masks in their daily lives.”
Prof. Dr. Süer referring to the protection measures in his statements. said the following regarding the use of masks; “Healthy people do not need to wear masks in their daily lives. The mask can be worn if someone has a health complaint a close contact of more than 1 meter is required. Apart from that, it is not necessary to wear a mask.”

Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Kaya Süer; "The disease can be transmitted directly and indirectly."
Prof. Dr. Süer stated that the disease is transmitted directly and indirectly in two ways. Prof. Dr. H. Kaya Süer said that in the case of intimate contact with people who have symptoms such as fever, cough, and shortness of breath, is meant that viruses scattered in the environment during the cough or speech of that person and enter the body of healthy people through the eyes, nose and mouth.

Prof. Dr. H. Kaya Süer; "If the measures are applied, the spread of the disease will be taken under serious control."
Prof. Dr. H. Kaya Süer continued as follows regarding indirect ways of virus spread; “Our information about the lifespan of the viruses scattered around is that they remain alive on the surfaces for 3-48 hours as of today. For this reason, we should not touch everywhere with our hands and clean our hands frequently. In cases where our hands are not clean, we should not take them to our mouth, nose, or eyes. If these measures are applied, the spread of the disease will be seriously controlled. Allergic reactions will also start soon due to the spring season. When coughing, we should cover our mouth with our arms, clothes, as much as possible, not with our hands. We should prefer disposable wipes. We should wash our hands with soap and water, as well as prefer alcohol-based hand antiseptics. In this way, contagiousness will be greatly reduced. The risk of contamination is higher in closed crowded environments. Close contact should be avoided as much as possible in social life.”

"Incubation Period of the Disease 2-14 Days"
"Given the climatic conditions of the island, the risk of transmission will decrease as the life span of the virus decreases with the increase of the climatic temperatures.", said Prof. Dr. H. Kaya Süer and added that the people who are suspected to be in the incubation period of the disease or who have been diagnosed with this type of infection, who have been in direct contact with the person who has been diagnosed with this type of infection, or who have come to the island in one of the diagnosed countries must keep away from social relations and stay in home quarantine for 14 days if possible.

Prof. Dr. Nail Bulakbaşı; "Hand cleaning must be done not just for this infection, but also for other infections in our life."
Speaking at the press conference, Chief Physician of Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia University Hospital, Prof. Dr. Nail Bulakbaşı also made the following explanations; “The incident is very hot now. Everyone is excited and maybe obeys the measures more than necessary. This is a process. Until this process is completed, all the measures described must be taken seriously to the end without loosening. The most important thing in this regard is to wash hands well after contact, if not, to clean with alcohol disinfectant. Hand cleaning is necessary not only for this infection but also for other infections and other diseases in our life.”
