Near East University has put its mark on the Science List

According to the World Scientist and University Rankings 2021 published by AD Scientific Index, 28 of the 50 most productive scientists of the TRNC are from the Near East University and 3 from the University of Kyrenia.

Near East University made its mark on the World Scientist and University Rankings 2021 list published by AD Scientific Index. Based on Google Scholar data, in the list showing the publication performances of scientists and universities across the country, region and the world, 28 of the 50 most productive scientists of the TRNC were shown from the Near East University and 3 from the University of Kyrenia. Accordingly, 62 percent of the most productive scientists in the TRNC continue their academic careers at the universities of the Near East Investments universities.

In the World Scientist and University Rankings 2021, 9 of the scientists in the top 10 in the TRNC with their publishing performance are from the Near East University. 13 scientists from Near East University are in the top 15 of the list. Near East University is represented by 28 scientists in the list of the TRNC’s top 50 most productive scientists. When the 3 scientists from the University of Kyrenia, which is included in the list, are added to this, the weight of the universities of the Near East Investments increases to 31 in the number of scientists and 62 percent in proportion.

Continuing his studies at the Near East University and standing out with his “High Energy Physics” studies, Prof. Dr. İsa Dumanoğlu is at the top of the list. In the second place, there is another physicist Prof. Dr. Kerem Cankoçak. Near East University Biomedical Engineering Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilber Uzun Özşahin ranked third, Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy Lecturer Prof. Dr. Kemal Hüsnü Can Başer is in fourth place. Also, Near East University is represented in the top 5 of the list by 4 scientists; Prof. Dr. Derin Orhon, Prof. Dr. Ebrahim Babaei, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özsöz, Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalis and Prof. Dr. Nesrin Hasırcı, who are Near East University scientists who are in the top 10 of the list rises to 9.

Scientists from Near East University also got their place in the European and world rankings in the World Scientist and University Rankings 2021 list published by AD Scientific Index. Prof. Dr. İsa Dumanoğlu from Near East University was shown as the first scientist in the TRNC, 43rd in Europe and 190th in the world. Prof. Dr. Kerem Cankoçak, on the other hand, ranked 58th in Europe and 247th in the world.

Near East Enterprises Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said that they are very proud that Near East University is represented by 28 scientists and University of Kyrenia is represented by 3 scientists in the list of TRNC’s 50 most productive scientists in the World Scientist and University Rankings 2021 research published by AD Scientific Index. Prof. Dr. Günsel said, “Scientific studies and publications by our scientists have turned our Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus into one of the most prestigious science centers in the world, together with Near East University and University of Kyrenia.”

Reminding that in the ‘2021 World Universities Impact Ranking’ announced by Times Higher Education last month, Near East University was ranked 30th in the world, second in Turkey and first in the TRNC in the field of education quality. Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “We will continue to contribute to the developments and play an active role in social transformation by combining our education and research vision with the 4th generation university approach and transforming the knowledge and research we produce into patents and products.”
