Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel was presented with the “TURKSOY 30th Anniversary Gold Medal” by the International Organization of Turkic Culture

On behalf of TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Prof. Dr. Bilal Cakici presented Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel the “TURKSOY 30th Anniversary Gold Medal” for his outstanding contributions to the culture and arts of the Turkish world and to TURKSOY.

Founded in 1993 with the aim of transferring Turkish culture to future generations and introducing it to the world, TURKSOY is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. TURKSOY, which was established by the agreement signed by the ministers of culture of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey, also has the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Altai, Saha, Tiva and Khakas Republic of the Russian Federation and Gagauzia of Moldova observer members.

Prof. Dr. Bilal Çakıcı: “The 30th Anniversary Gold Medal of TURKSOY was awarded to the Founding Rector of Near East University Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel who made outstanding contributions to the adoption and dissemination of Turkish culture at the international level, as an indication of our gratitude.
Speaking at the medal presentation ceremony held at the opening of the “Aşık Veysel in the Media and Through the Lens of Masters” photography exhibition organized in cooperation with TURKSOY, UNESCO and Near East University, Deputy Secretary General of TURKSOY Prof. Dr. Bilal Çakıcı said that they have been continuing their studies for 30 years with the aim of providing a continuous and permanent interaction between the Turkish world and the world of culture and art on a global scale.

Emphasizing that Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel is the biggest supporter of TURKSOY in the realization of many projects that bring together the historical, literary and artistic values of the Turkish world along with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Prof. Dr. Çakıcı said, “In all Turkish geographies, we aim to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between peoples with a common language, history and culture, to keep the common culture alive, and to ensure the international adoption and dissemination of Turkish culture through festivals, concerts, exhibitions, artistic events and scientific studies carried out in cooperation with TURKSOY. Making outstanding contributions, Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel also supports world peace, friendship and intercultural interaction with his works. I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel for his important efforts.”

Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel, on the other hand, stated that he was honored to receive the TURKSOY 30th Anniversary Gold Medal, which was presented to him by the International Organization of Turkic Culture.

Emphasizing that they have been working for 45 years to bring the Turkish world closer, Dr. Günsel stated that he is very happy to walk on the same path as TURKSOY, which was established 30 years ago as the first cooperation organization that brought the Turkish world together and has carried out many works that bring the life line support to the common bonds between brotherly peoples.
