Günsel in his office. Near East University vice rectors Prof. Dr. Şenol Bektaş and Prof. Dr. Fahreddin Sadıkoğlu were attended the visit as well.

Dr. Suat İ. Günsel: " As Your Consanguineous Here, When We Were in Time of Trouble, You Proved Your Faith and Patriotism and Paved the Way for Us Towards Being the State Owner by Sacrificing Your Lives”.
Embracing the delegation with his cordial greetings, the Founding Rector Dr. Suat İ. Günsel stated that he felt the great happiness of welcoming them. Addressing the visiting delegation, the Founding Rector Dr. Suat İ. Günsel expressed his views: “You proved your mettle by shedding your blood and having a republic founded. It was your faith and patriotism that led you to sacrifice your lives to save lives. It is our share now to ensure and maintain the sustainability of being a whole with Turkey. There are two important words for me that I always say; one is "To be a whole" and the other one is "To be grateful". Societies, who know the depth of these two words and progress in accordance with this depth perception, always sustain their beings. To be a whole means to become one; one is a whole. To be a whole with Turkey is important for us. Turkey may do without Cyprus. However, we can't sustain our being without Turkey. From this aspect, Cyprus and Turkey are inseparable components of a whole”.

Prof. Dr. Bektaş: Near East University is Located on the Region Where the Parachutes Landed in the Morning of 20 July 1974"
In his remarks, NEU vice Rector Professor Şenol Bektaş voiced his happiness of hosting the veterans of Cyprus Peace Operation. "It is a great delight for us to host the Cyprus Peace Operation veterans from Sivas. We invited our veterans, who fought in Cyprus Peace Operation 44 years ago as commando or soldier. We invited them to show how well they did their work and what they crowned us with. The area, on which the NEU campus is located, was a blank space where the parachutes landed in the morning of July 20. As Near East University, we have designed a project to host the veterans of Cyprus Peace Operation at our university and in our country since the last five years" said he.

Abdurrahim Ceyhan; “As Sivas Municipality, We are Extremely Happy to be Here with Our Veterans"
Sivas Municipality Deputy Mayor Abdurrahim Ceyhan delivered a speech and expressed his feelings: "As Sivas Municipality, we feel the great happiness of being here with veterans, who came here from Sivas and fought for the freedom and independence of Turkish Cypriots 44 years ago. I hope we will not come again for another freedom and peace fight. Of course, we will certainly come when it becomes a necessity. We will maintain our unity and brotherhood with our Turkish Cypriot cognates. We have no fellows other than us. In this context, I would like to extend my deepest appreciations for their hearty welcome mainly to the NEU Founding Rector Dr. Suat İ. Günsel, NEU Board of Trustees Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel and the vice rectors as well as our valuable faculty members” noted he.

Mustafa Hızal: "The Value Attached on Our Veterans and the Trip down the Memory Lane of Our Martyrs Make Our Unity More Important"
Sivas Martyrs' Families and Veterans Association Chairman Mustafa Hızal also voiced his views: "First of all, thank you very much for your kind invitation. What Turkey means, Cyprus means the same for us. We are integrals of a whole. We say this at every opportunity. For this reason, we are experiencing the great pleasure of being here. The value attached on our veterans here and the trip down the memory lane of our martyrs make our unity more important. I would like to take this opportunity and extend my thanks to the Founding Rector Dr. Suat Günsel, NEU Board of Trustees Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan Günsel and vice Rector Prof. Dr. Şenol Bektaş, vice Rector Prof. Dr. Fahreddin Sadıkoğlu and very valuable faculty members “said he.
