The Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat İ. Günsel, who went to Tokat along with vice Rector Prof. Dr. Şenol Bektaş upon the invitation of Tokat Mayor Eyüp Eroğlu, visited the veterans of Cyprus Peace Operation. Addressing to the veterans, Dr. Suat Günsel voiced his appreciations: "As Turkish Cypriots, we are grateful to you. Shedding your blood, you had a republic founded" said he.

As Turkish Cypriots, we are grateful to you"

Relaying the kindest greetings of Turkish Cypriots to the veterans, the Founding Rector Dr. Suat İ. Günsel stated that they were grateful to them as Turkish Cypriots. "You proved your mettle by shedding your blood and having a republic founded. It was your faith and patriotism that led you to sacrifice your lives to save lives. It was our share then to ensure and maintain the sustainability of being a whole with Turkey, the motherland, worthily to your faith and patriotism. For this reason, I reached the conclusion that to have a university in North Cyprus would be the best instrument to ensure the solidarity and integrity with Turkey. With an effort not only to accommodate the demands of the students in pursuit of their academic and professional careers through quality education but also to ensure the strongest ties with Turkey, we have come to a point where we can produce our own car. Our Cyprus is grateful to you. On November 15, the anniversary of TRNC, we would like to see you there and host you. May you live long" said he.

Bilal Özmen:"We became martyrs, veterans in Cyprus. Cyprus is our blood and soul"

Voicing his satisfaction with Günsel's visit, the President of Tokat Branch of Turkish War Veterans Association, Bilal Özmen, expressed his views: "We became martyrs, veterans in Cyprus. Every inch of its soil is rich with our sweat and blood. We gave 498 martyrs from all around the country. We gave 7 martyrs from Tokat, Halal for you. These flags will wave there forever. When necessary, we will come and fight again. We love Cyprus and its love is our blood and soul. We see that Suat Hoca (Dr. Suat Günsel) has provided his country with great services through huge investments and crowned the fight that we had given” noted he.

Eyüp Eroğlu: "What Turkey means for us, Cyprus means the same for us. We are inseparable components of a whole"

Indicating that Cyprus and Turkey are inseparable components of a whole, Tokat Mayor Eyüp Eroğlu shared his views: "What Turkey means, Cyprus means the same for us. We are integrals of a whole. We say this at every opportunity. For this reason, we are experiencing the rightful pleasure of welcoming Dr. Suat Günsel who added significant values to Cyprus. Whenever he comes to Tokat, he definitely visits our veterans" said he.

Eroğlu was pleased with Günsel's invitation regarding the organization of a sightseeing program for veterans to see Cyprus again. "Our veterans should come to Cyprus and remember those old days. You must see with your eyes what you granted us" said Günsel. It was decided that the veterans would participate in the sightseeing program to be realized in Cyprus in November.
