Near East University Faculty of Nursing said farewell to its Next-Generation Nurses Equipped with Professional Knowledge

The graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Nursing of Near East University for the Fall-Term of the Academic Year of 2019-2020 has been realised at the İrfan Günsel Congrses Centre of Faculty of Health Sciences.

It was pointed out that the graduation ceremony began with a minute’s silence, followed by the national anthem and Rector of Özay Günsel Children’s University Prof. Dr. Filiz Meriçli, Vice Rector of Near East University Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Dean of Faculty of Nursing Prof. Dr. Ümran Dal Yılmaz, deans, head of departments, academic staff, students and guests attended the ceremony held in a joyous atmosphere.

Dean of Faculty of Nursing Prof. Dr. Ümran Dal Yılmaz and Vice Rector of Near East University Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ each made speeches at the ceremony.

You will serve humanity in the best way by producing solutions to the problems
Making the opening speech of the ceremony, Dean of Faculty of Nursing Prof. Dr. Ümran Dal Yılmaz said that the Faculty of Nursing, which started its educational services in the academic year 2007-2008, is the first and only nursing faculty of the island today.

Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Yılmaz expressed that they educated their students in a university that offers educational opportunities in accordance to the contemporary needs and standards. Moreover, speaking to the graduates about the importance of the nursing profession, Prof. Dr. Yılmaz stated the belief that the newly introduced nurses will serve humanity in the best possible way.

Additionally, Prof. Dr. Yılmaz stressed that nursing is a profession that aims to reach the ideal health level and quality of life; a profession which focuses on protecting and improving the health of the individual, family and society. Prof. Dr. Yılmaz said:
“Today, the primary responsibility of nurses in the world and in our country is to raise the health of the society, to protect the health of the healthy individual, to treat the sick individual and to relieve the pain. While fulfilling this responsibility, acting in accordance with medical concepts, being a well-informed, moral and conscientious person should be the basic behavior of a nurse. Inherent in nursing is human respect and human rights. Nurses have an important role in providing effective, efficient and sensitive healthcare services by meeting the expectations of patients and their relatives with changing health needs of patients. You are the ones who will make the difference in your profession. our belief that you will serve your profession and humanity in the best way by constantly improving yourself and producing solutions to problems.”

Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ: “An internship exchange program was launched for the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine with students from all over the world.”
In his speech, Vice Rector of Near East University Prof Dr Tamer Şanlıdağ congratulated graduates, their families and the faculty and said that provided information on the works of Near East University in medicine, informatics, technology and art. Prof Dr Tamer Şanlıdağ said:

“Three years ago, after providing the student associations of the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry to the World Student Federation, we started an internship and research exchange with the whole world. Last year, we launched the Erasmus Plus program and provided student and faculty exchanges for the first time. Currently, 2 students from the medical school in Lithuania at our university hospital are doing an internship with an Erasmus + program. In the General Assembly of the International Veterinary Medicine Student Federation held in Morocco, our University Veterinary Faculty Student Union was also accepted as a full member and an internship exchange program was launched for our students in this faculty with the whole world.”

“Launch of Günsel will be held with wide participation”
Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ stated that Near East University has been making significant investments in R&D for a long time. Following the R&D processes that started with solar-powered cars RA-25 and RA-27, he said that "GÜNSEL" will be introduced on February 20, which a total of 109 engineers developed by devoting their nights and days of hard work.

Museums area created on the Near East University Campus
Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ continued his speech by pointing out that Near East University invests in science and R&D, as well as making significant contributions to art worldwide. Furthermore, he emphasised that the museum region was established on the Near East Campus; explaining that it comprised the Car Museum, Herbarium and Natural History Museum, National History Museum, Maritime Museum, Knife and Sword Museum and Cyprus Museum of Modern Art.

They took professional oath
Subsequent to the speeches, the graduating students were presented their diplomas. Next, the students took their professional oath at the helm of the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Prof. Dr. Ümran Dal Yılmaz. The ceremony ended after tossing graduation caps in the air.
