Near East University Faculty of Medicine was accredited by WFME, which determines the principles and standards of medical education all over the world

Near East University Faculty of Medicine added a new one to its achievements with its strong and well-equipped infrastructure. Founded in 2008 as the first medical faculty of the TRNC, Near East University Faculty of Medicine provides education in English and Turkish. Near East University Faculty of Medicine, which also offers applied education opportunities to its students with its experienced physician staff and state-of-the-art equipment at the Near East University Hospital, creates an international education environment with its students from many countries of the world.

Recently, Near East University Faculty of Medicine, which was accredited by the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Sciences (MOHME) along with other faculties of Near East University in the field of health, has been accredited by the World Federation of Medical Education, headquartered in England. It was also accredited by (World Federation of Medical Education, WFME).

Near East University Faculty of Medicine has strengthened its international recognition by taking place among the medical faculties accredited by the World Federation of Medical Education. The accreditation process of the faculty to WFME was carried out by the Secretariat of the Council for Undergraduate Medical Education (SCUME).

Near East University Faculty of Medicine, which has been included in the World Health Organization AVICENNA group and the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) since April 2013, has opened the way for its graduates to apply for medical education and specialty programs in the USA and Canada, also taking place on the list of Foreign Medical Graduates – Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates). In addition, physicians who complete their education at the Near East University Faculty of Medicine have the right to specialize in well-known health institutions in Europe as well as the Near East University Faculty of Medicine Hospital.

Near East University Faculty of Medicine continues to provide world-class medical education to its students from many countries of the world with its well-equipped academic staff, applied education opportunities and infrastructure.

About WFME
World Federation of Medical Education (WFME) was founded in 1972 when the World Medical Association (WMA) joined forces with the World Health Organization, regional medical schools and the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA).

WFME, which determines the principles and standards of medical education all over the world, also implements a global program for the accreditation of basic medical education. WFME also co-edits the World Directory of Medical Schools.

Near East Enterprises Board of Trustees Chairman Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel expressed his happiness by saying that Near East University Faculty of Medicine was accredited by the World Federation of Medical Education, WFME, which determines the principles and standards of medical education all over the world. Emphasizing that Near East University Faculty of Medicine is an important center in medical education that meets the need for qualified physicians not only in the TRNC and Turkey but also in many countries of the world, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “I would like to thank all our academic and administrative staff, especially the Dean of Near East University Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Gamze Mocan, for their dedication, discipline and determination in this success.”

Reminding that recently, Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy successfully completed the international independent accreditation process carried out by the USA-based “Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education” (ACPE) and received the title of “accredited faculty of pharmacy”, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “The accreditations our faculties receive from international institutions continue to strengthen our international university identity.”

Emphasizing that doctors of the future studying at Near East University Faculty of Medicine are trained in a multicultural environment, Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “Near East University Faculty of Medicine, which was established as the first medical faculty of the TRNC, has so far given hundreds of graduates from dozens of countries. Our graduates continue to practice their professions all over the world.”

Prof. Dr. Gamze Mocan said, “With this vision, we train doctors from many countries of the world. The compliance of the education we provide to our students with universal health standards continues to be certified by important institutions in the field of medicine.”
