Near East University Faculty of Law third year students Gökçe Maraşlı and Yaren Bayram participated in an international summer school titled as “13th Human Rights and Transitional Justice Mechanisms” held at the capital of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, University of Sarajevo Faculty of Law, Sarajevo Law Association (Udruzenje Pravnik) and Konrad Adenauer Foundation jointly hold this summer school program to which students from many different countries attend to for two weeks. During the two week period, the students were provided detailed information on practices of dealing with the past in the legal systems of the countries that have recently witnessed civil wars, such as Bosnia and Herzegovina and human rights and democratization issues. Furthermore, the students also visited the Sarajevo Office of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and received information on the court's trial practices.

In accordance with the agreement between the Faculty of Law of Near East University and the Faculty of Law of University of Sarajevo, starting from this year onwards, a quota will be given to the Near East University students for this summer school and therefore, further strengthen the relations between the two Faculties. Additionally, another summer school to be held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and student-academician exchange programs will be organised between the Near East University and the University of Sarajevo.
