Near East University Faculty of Law 2017 – 2018 Spring Term Graduation Ceremony was held with intensive participation

2017-2018 Academic Year graduates of the Near East University Faculty of Law received their diplomas with a glorious ceremony held at AKKM Grand Hall.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, the graduation ceremony was realized with participation of NEU Board of Trustees Chairman and Dean of the Faculty of Law Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel, NEU General Secretary and the Director of Vocational School of Justice Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeter Tabur, the Director of the Department of International Law Assoc. Prof. Dr. Reşat Volkan Güner, faculty members, students and their parents.

The graduation ceremony began with a commemorative stand in silence for Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Turkish Cypriot leader Dr. Fazıl Küçük, TRNC Founding President Rauf R. Denktaş and all martyrs and followed by national anthem.

Prior to the opening remarks, Ilgın Demiröz, top ranking graduate of the Faculty of Law, and Gökçan Gülmen, the top ranking graduate of the Vocational School of Justice, delivered a speech on behalf of the graduates respectively.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Günsel: "Today, We have gathered here to share a common joy and pride."
In his opening remarks the faculty Dean and the Chairman of NEU Board of Trustees Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irfan Günsel addressed the attending body and expressed his views: "Today, in the 21st year of the Faculty of Law, we have gathered here to share a common joy and pride. Dear colleagues, we are experiencing one of the most enjoyable moments of our profession; our students are here as graduates. No doubt that we are proud of them and share their joy.

Dear graduates, you have successfully completed an important process in your life and you are starting a new road with a new energy, with high skills and knowledge that you have acquired throughout your education process. I truly believe that you will take your right place among the most notable lawyers of the country.

Under the umbrella of Near East University, which is an international science platform and the leading gear of higher education of our country, we have been offering quality law education beyond the standards set by national and international bodies. For 21 years, we have been pride of raising lawyers who believe in the light of science and the rule of law under the light of universal values.

While establishing our law faculty in 1997, we set it as our overriding aim to raise lawyers who are equipped with comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge, who internalize professional ethics and human rights and who have high competence and efficiency in the field of law. Besides, we attach great importance on raising enlightened and fair individuals who believe in universal peace, human rights and freedom, who can perceive and interpret developments in the society and in the world, who can freely express their opinions and can assume personal and social responsibility” said he.


Assoc. Prof. Dr. Günsel: "I wish your way is always open in your legal struggle for a fairer world"
Dear students, you started your higher education lives under the roof of Near East University as young people grown up with interest, love and support of your parents, your teachers have equipped you with contemporary and appropriate knowledge in line with the educational philosophy of Near East University and standards set by national and international bodies. "You have done remarkably well and completed your law education successfully. I am proud of you. You have accomplished a lot. I’m glad that a position, which is a great next step in your career, has been opened up for you. No doubt that you, as young people, you will be strong and unbending representatives of justice. I look forward to seeing even more your accomplishments in the future. I truly believe that you will always exert effort to establish justice by being on the side of the right. You will show that you are capable to reverse all kinds of stale ideas that found existence with a stereotype and parrot fashion system. You will always defend the rule of law in every environment. As a graduate of the Near East University, every new accomplishment you achieve in your working life will further exalt the Near East University and make us happier and cheer us up as well. Facing challenges with strength, determination and confidence is what matters, and you are capable to do it. I wish you success in ensuring justice starting from your own conscience, in your family, in your country and in the entire world. I wish your path is always open in your legal struggle for a fairer world. Congrats on your graduation”!

Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel ended his remarks by addressing the parents: "Dear parents, undoubtedly you did everything and provided all kind of support for your beloved ones. Raising well-rounded individuals requires great effort that you need to put your heart and devotion in it. Congrats, you have done it. You are here today with high feelings. You are experiencing the right proud of witnessing your children receiving their diplomas. We share the same excitement and pride with you. Don't have any doubt; Near East University has raised these young people well. Be sure of their future success and trust them, be proud of them” said he.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tabur: "We are experiencing the graduation excitement, joy and pride of the Vocational School of Justice"
"This is a very special day. We are experiencing the graduation excitement, joy and pride of the Vocational School of Justice. I thank you all for being here to share this joy and excitement and I say welcome. The Vocational School of Justice was established in 2012 and today it is an important vocational school offering education to 250 students. Since its establishment, the Vocational School of Justice has been providing all possibilities required for quality education at global standards. Our fundamental objective is to raise well equipped personnel to assist the prosecutors and judges in ensuring the establishment of justice in a faster manner. Today, under the roof of the Faculty of Law, the Vocational School of Justice with its distinguished teaching staff works with dedication and pride to provide you with the best education and pave the way for you towards establishing your future careers” said he.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tabur: "We tried to teach not only knowledge available in books but also the Living Law and the Art of Dispensing Justice"
As the Vocational School of Justice, we have always been in an effort to ensure the best education for you. We have also strived to teach not only the knowledge available in books but also the living law and the art of dispensing justice. I truly believe that the accomplishments that you have achieved so far will continue in your new professional lives and that you will act fairly and with respect for ethical values. You have been trained in a very nice campus; on a science platform that follows all developments in the field of law and hosts important scientific events. On this educational ground, you have developed friendships with other students coming from different countries across the world. You have built up a social life by respecting, showing tolerance and understanding each other. Today, we have gathered here to share your graduation excitement and joy. You are closing a page while opening a new one in your lives. Graduation doesn't mean separation. Our ties will be vibrant for a lifetime. We will be proud of your future accomplishments and I am sure that you will always be proud of being a graduate of Near East University. I wish your sense of justice and sensitivity accompanies your conscience lifelong, and I wish each of you success in your whole life" noted he.

International Law Program Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Reşat Volkan delivered a speech in English and congratulated the graduates by wishing them success.
