Near East University Faculty of Dentistry students Lara Aybar and Yağız Abacı attended the 71st Annual Congress of the International Association of Dentistry Students (IADS) held in Slovenia as representatives of the Northern Cyprus Association of Dentistry Students (NCADS). Representing dentistry students studying in Northern Cyprus, Lara Aybar and Yağız Abacı discussed current developments and future educational opportunities in the field of dentistry with representatives from 18 countries.
The congress, which offers dentistry students the opportunity to develop their professional competencies and closely follow innovations in the global health sector, also brings dentists from different cultures together, allowing them to take more equipped and conscious steps towards the future.
Lara Aybar and Yağız Abacı, who went to Slovenia with the support of the Near East University Dean of Students, participated in seminars, workshops and many events organized during the congress. Near East University Faculty of Dentistry students also had the opportunity to strengthen international cooperation and interact with colleagues from different cultures.
Plans for the future were made
As a result of the voting at the congress, new board members of IADS for the 2024-2025 term were determined. In addition, important plans were made regarding student exchange programs and international collaborations to be held in Northern Cyprus during the new education period. These programs will provide dentistry students studying in Northern Cyprus with the opportunity to gain more experience in the international arena, expand their professional networks and increase their professional competencies. The participation of Lara Aybar and Yağız Abacı, who actively participated in the congress, strengthened the compliance of dentistry education in Northern Cyprus with international standards and its representation at the global level.
