The graduation ceremony of Faculty of Dentistry of Near East University for the spring term of the academic year 2018-2019 has recently been held at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Centre with great joy and excitement.
According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, Vice Rector of Near East University Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Dean of Faculty Prof. Dr. Mutahhar Ulusoy, deans, academicians, students and guests attended the graduation ceremony, which was held in a joyful, lively atmosphere. Furthermore, it was stated that Vice Rector of Near East University Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Dean of Faculty Prof. Dr. Mutahhar Ulusoy, and Valedictorian Hilal Kızılkaya each made a speech at the graduation ceremony. Also, there was a musical performance at the ceremony as well.
Prof. Dr. Mutahhar Ulusoy: “The Academic Members of our Faculty is promoting the voice of the TRNC at National and International Congresses via Scientific Research and Publications…”
Dean of Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Dr. Mutahhar Ulusoy stated that they as the Faculty were steadily progressing on the path of becoming a faculty of which its graduates are highly preferred and has a reputable student and instructor profiles.
In addition to the above, Prof. Dr. Ulusoy emphasised that the faculty has two divisions, one of which has educational programs with Turkish as the language of instruction, and other programs with English as the language of instruction. He said that currently there were 1382 undergraduate students, and 73 postgraduate students conducting research. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Ulusoy pointed out that the academic members of the faculty were promoting the voice of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) via their scientific research and publications. He assured that they will continue to train modern dentists who adhere to Atatürk's principles, have critical thinking and scientific understanding, have self-confidence and tolerance, and respect for ethical values. Prof. Dr. Muhattar Ulusoy ended his words by congratulating the students who deserved graduation by defeating all difficulties in a challenging education like dentistry.
Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ: “With its 4th generation university model, Near East University is transforming scientific data for the benefit of the society...”
In his speech, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ stated that with the 4th generation university model which the R & D and academic studies, Near East University is transforming all scientific data for the benefit of the society.
Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ: “We are educating individuals and researchers who dominate the field, who research, question, create knowledge and use processes effectively. Furthermore, individuals who have the ability to apply modern teaching methods and have internalised universal values. Since the date of foundation, Near East University is progressing on its path of becoming a global information centre. It is also determined to progress to be among the first best 500 universities in the world.”
In addition to the above, Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ stated that the Near East University is continuing its academic and innovative studies and offer health services at world standards and in accordance with the single health concept, without distinguishing human, environment and animal health, via Near East University Hospital, NEU Dentistry Hospital and NEU Animal Hospital.
Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ: “You are all a physician…”
Addressing the graduates, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ reminded he graduates that they have just become a physician. He asked them to always keep in mind that, before thinking about anything, they should remember that their patients are merely a human. He asked them to be a person who has the intellectual and intellectual equipment that can provide a significant improvement in both his own life and the quality of life of his/her patients. He ended his words by saying: “In the hope that you will never forget that physicians are God's Hands on Earth. I congratulate your graduation on behalf of myself and all our faculty members and wish that your new life will bring health, success and happiness. Farewell!”
Hilal Kızılkaya: “We’re leaving this faculty as bright individuals...”
Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Valedictorian Hilal Kızılkaya said: “When we first came here, our steps were startling, now over the past 5 years, we can see how the NEU has actually contributed to us. But now we are leaving this faculty as enlightened individuals who deserve the title of physician, who can stand on their own two feet. I would like to thank everyone who have educated and supported us throughout our presence at the Near East University.”

Subsequent to the speeches, the graduates took an oath with the assistance of Dean of Faculty Prof. Dr. Mutahhar Ulusoy. Then valedictorian Hilal Kızılkaya placed her name engraved plaque on the log. Later, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ and Prof. Dr. Mutahhar Ulusoy awarded diplomas and medals to valedictorian Hilal Kızılkaya, salutatorian Serdar Güven and third highest ranked graduate Selin Nur Gülmez. Finally, all graduates were presented their diplomas.
