Near East University Turkish Language Teaching Department faculty members participated in the “International Turkish World Social Sciences Symposium” organized by Ege University to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Ege University Turkic World Studies Institute.

Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education faculty members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yeniasır and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burak Gökbulut and Anıl Bilgiç, a graduate of the Near East University Faculty of Education, Department of Turkish Language Teaching, also presented their studies at the symposium to which about 450 academicians participated from various countries.


In the symposium which was organized to bring together the academicians from the Turkic world to share studies on Turkish history, culture, language, economy, political and social structure, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yeniasır, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burak Gökbulut and Anıl Bilgiç participated in presenting two papers titled “A Comparative Study on Traditions and Practices Related to Birth-Childhood Periods in Gagauz and Turkish Cypriot Folk Cultures” and “Mujahideen in the Process of Recreating National Identity – Re-reading the Novel Named Those Who Hit in Cyprus”.

Stating that they aimed to reveal the similarities and differences between the Gagauz and Turkish Cypriots with their study, Assoc. Prf. Dr. Mustafa Yeniasır and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burak Gökbulut stated that the socio-cultural structures and traditions of both communities have broadly similar points.
