Near East University Engineering Faculty graduates took their first steps in their professional life by receiving their diplomas at a ceremony

The graduates of the 2021-2022 academic year spring semester of the Near East University Engineering Faculty capped off with the ceremony held at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center. Many guests, including graduates and their families, attended the ceremony where 133 students graduated.

In the ceremony, which started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, Near East University Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan, Dean of the Near East University Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Bülent Bilgehan made speeches. Sara Kayed, a graduate of Biomedical Engineering on behalf of the international graduates, and Ahmet Çapik, a graduate of Software Engineering, expressed their feelings on behalf of the Turkish graduates. After the speeches, the graduates who received their diplomas threw their caps off with great enthusiasm.


Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan: “You are young engineers responsible for your country and the world as much as you are to yourself and your family. As you run from success to success, you will further glorify the Near East University and honor us.”
Near East University Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan also said that education and knowledge are important development tools for societies and said, “In our century, where information societies are dominant, engineering departments that provide the development of science and technology play an important role in shaping the future.”

Referring to the achievements of the Near East University Faculty of Engineering in many different fields, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan said, “As Near East University, we have taken many steps that contribute to science, society and the country’s administration. We have carried out engineering studies on GÜNSEL, the first domestic car of our country, on smart robotic systems that can be applied in industry and on medicine, stem cells in health sciences, genome research, nanotechnology, biotechnology, bioinformatics and cyber security of computer-informatics systems.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tüzünkan addressed the graduates and said, “We know that all of you will always be on the side of law and ethical values​​throughout your life. You are young engineers responsible for your country and the world as much as you are to yourself and your family. As you run from success to success, you will further glorify the Near East University and honor us.”


Prof. Dr. Bülent Bilgehan: “Engineers express themselves through their actions.”
Near East University Faculty of Engineering Dean Prof. Dr. Bülent Bilgehan started his speech by saying “Engineers express themselves through their actions”. Reminding that Near East University was ranked among the top 250 universities in the world in computer and engineering fields by the international rating agency Times Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Bilgehan said, “As the Faculty of Engineering, we have become the faculty of the Near East University with the highest academic productivity in 2019, 2020 and 2021. We were very proud to be ranked in the 201-250 band in the Times Higher Education ranking.”

Stating that life is based on love, Prof. Dr. Bülent Bilgehan said, “Remember that you should seek love in everything. This will also apply to your profession. The principle of love should always be in your life. University gives you a key when you graduate. It is your diploma. Using this key, it’s up to you to dive into the sea.”

Addressing the graduate students, Prof. Dr. Bülent Bilgehan said, “Dear youngs, we have some expectations from you. At the beginning of these, we expect you to be a right and fair person no matter what, to reflect what you know first to yourself and then to your surroundings, to be useful, to dream, to have nothing without working, to labor, to strive to develop our country and humanity. May your path be clear.”


Sara Kayed: “As international students, we all come from different parts of the world. Throughout our education life, the Near East University has been our home.”
Speaking on behalf of international graduates, Sara Kayed, a graduate of Biomedical Engineering, started her speech by congratulating her friends and said, “We all succeeded. We graduated with the reward of our hard work and efforts. I am proud to speak in front of you here today.”

Saying that they studied at the Near East University for four years with a high level of academic excellence, Kayed emphasized that they have accumulated important experiences and friendships, not only academically but also socially.

“As international students, we all come from different parts of the world.” Saying that the Near East University has been their home throughout their education life, Sara Kayed thanked her teachers, who she said they learned a lot from. At the end of her speech, Kayed wished her fellow graduates good luck in their future lives.

Ahmet Çapik: “As engineers with the skills to shape the future, we will work tirelessly for a better future.”
Ahmet Çapik, who successfully completed the Software Engineering department, stated that different responsibilities await them upon graduation and said, “Getting a university education is not just being entitled to a diploma and having a profession. To graduate from a university means knowing that a new learning process is waiting for us. As young engineers, we have to continue conducting research, reading and improving ourselves.”

Expressing that they have worked and worked hard throughout their education life, Ahmet Çapik said, “Now is the time to use the knowledge and experience we gained during our education for the benefit of not only our own countries but all humanity and the whole world. As engineers with the skills to shape the future, we will work tirelessly for a better future. As graduates of the Near East University Faculty of Engineering, we will advance on the path of science, which our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk called it “his spiritual heritage”, with our heads high and honored.”
