Near East University DESAM Institute Director Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ warned that "we must be vaccinated".
Emphasizing that the effectiveness of the vaccines developed for the coronavirus and Phase-3 studies are ongoing is over 90 percent, Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ said, “It has been scientifically proven that no significant side effects were encountered in the safety tests of vaccines. There is no harm in making vaccines with approved safety and efficacy. I will also be vaccinated against the virus.”

Drawing attention to the vaccine opposition, Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ emphasized the importance of getting vaccinated. Stating that the vaccine is a preventive health service, Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ said, "The most important factor in fighting against COVID-19, which is now a common disease, is to prevent the spread of the disease. The most effective tool for this is now vaccination. Vaccination is also an effective way to overcome the disease and gain community immunity”.

Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ: "We can reduce the infectious rate of the virus by applying the vaccine and continuing to take protective measures simultaneously."
Stating that the vaccine must reach large masses in order to control the pandemic, Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ mentioned that although the vaccine against the virus is the only weapon, it may not be enough to end the pandemic alone. Reminding that with the study of the DESAM Institute Mathematical Modeling Research Group, it was revealed that even the vaccination of 50 percent of the population alone would not be enough to stop the epidemic. Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, "We can reduce the infectious rate of the virus by applying the vaccine and continuing to take protective measures simultaneously."

Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ reminded that protective nasal spray studies continue promisingly along with the vaccine.
