Near East University DESAM Institute Mathematical Modeling Research Group informed that the "R0" value, which indicates the number of contagiousness of the coronavirus in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, was found to be 1.01.

According to the results of the analysis made by the researchers of the Near East University DESAM Mathematical Modeling Research Group, it was reported that as of October 11, 2020, the "R0" value, which indicates the number of coronavirus contagiousness, decreased to 1.01. The R0 value, which indicates the number of people a person will spread the virus, is calculated by taking into account the number of cases in the country, asymptomatic cases, those who have mild and severe illness, those who died and those who recovered.

Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ: "Decreasing the Coronavirus Graph does not mean the end of the disease..."
Near East University DESAM Institute Director Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ stated that, in the studies conducted by the Near East University DESAM Mathematical Modeling Research Group, they observed that the coronavirus "R0" value of the country decreased to 1.01 with the effect of the measures taken and the society's compliance with these measures.

Stating that the "R0" value, which reveals the number of coronavirus infectiousness, is continuing to decrease, but this does not mean that the virus has been eliminated. Dr. Şanlıdağ said, "It is imperative to pay attention to social distance, hygiene and use of masks in order to prevent the transmission of the virus."
