Competing in the Women’s Basketball League of Turkey, Near East University defeated Mersin Büyükşehir Municipality in the 21st week of the league with a score of 79-71. With its 18th victory in the League, Near East University has kept its position as the leader of the league.

According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, the match was held at Mersin Edip Buran Sports Hall. It was pointed out that despite the aggressive game played by its opponent, Near East University kept its pace and achieved to finish the game with a victory. Furthermore, the highest scoring athlete of the game was said to be Kayla McBirde with her 28 points and the new transfer Yelena Leuchenka had scored 11 points.
