Near East University becomes a member of the Executive Committee of World Robotic Football Federation…

Team Captain of Near East University Robotic Football team, Ersin Aytaç is joining the RoboCup Football Federation Executive Committee; and thus making him the first Turk to join this committee.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, Ersin Aytaç was previously elected to the Board of Directors of the tournament and that he also chaired the RoboCup small-scale robot league organizing committee for two years. Recently, Ersin Aytaç became the member of the RoboCup Football Federation and later unanimously elected to the Executive Committee. With this membership, Ersin Aytaç became the highest level Turkish representative representing the Near East University and the TRNC.

5th Generation Robots will be on the football pitch…
Making a statement on the matter, Ersin Aytaç stated that the next RoboCup Robotic Football tournament will be held on 23-29 June 2020 in Bordeaux, France to which the Near East University Robotic Football team will be participating in. Furthermore, the Team Captain, Ersin Aytaç provided details about their future plans and expressed that they will be participating in this tournament with 5th generation robots which will be developed at the Near East University Robotics Laboratory.

Additionally, he stated that the 5th generation robots were more ‘intelligent’, faster and more aggressive; and that they will have processors 4 times stronger than the ones on the current robots. Also, the 5th generation robots will be physically 5cm shorter than the current robots they have.


They have made preparations for next year’s tournament…
Team Captain Ersin Aytaç also asserted that subsequent to the Robotic Football Tournament held in Sydney, Australia, the Near East University Robot Football Team had a friendly match with the teams that played one league above it as a preparation for next year. In fact, he said that although they were tactically successful in the preparatory games against their opponents, they observed that they were lagging behind in speed and for this reason, they decided to participate in the tournament next year by developing 5th Generation Robots, which are much faster.
