Near East University Attends Gala Event of Turkic World Documentary Film Festival in Istanbul

Near East University is attending to the gala event of the third Turkish World Documentary Film Festival organized by the Federation of Turkic World Journalists.

Near East University Press and Public Relations Directorate has revealed a press statement stating that the Near East University will participate at the gala event of the opening film "Turkish Home" of the Turkic World Documentary Film Festival that will be held in Istanbul, Osmaniye, between October 2 - November 10, 2018.

The Turkic Main Documentary, which was designed within the framework of the Third Turkic World Documentary Film Festival, was created by combining the Turkish main themed shootings in eight different Turkic republics. While the film was produced by Menderes Demir on behalf of the World Federation of Journalists, and the project consultant of the Turkish Cypriot mother in the film was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap, the project consultant of the Department of Radio, TV and Cinema of the Near East University.

Zeyde Yalıner Örek, a faculty member from the Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, TV and Cinema, and Ömer Evre, a graduate of the Near East University, took part in the production and management of the film. The shootings completed in ten days were performed in the village of Cihangir in Cyprus, while the Turkish Cypriot mother was portrayed by sixty-five-year-old Zarif Köse and her daughter Selen Köse Esenel.

The President of the Board of Trustees of the Near East University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel takes place at theHonorary Board of the Turkic World Documentary Film Festival of which the Near East University is a project partner. In the Executive Board, Prof. Dr. Nedime Serakıncı, Chairman of the Centre of Excellence, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap, Head of Department of Radio, TV and Cinema from the Faculty of Communication represent our country.

Among the countries, universities and institutions which contributed to the project are Konya Selçuk University from Turkey, Azerbaijan Fine Arts and Civilization University, Al Kazakhstan Farabi University, Kyrgyzstan Turkey Manas University, Near East University from the TRNC, Fon University from Macedonia, Tat Films from Uzbekistan and Uzbekistan Filmmakers Union from Uzbekistan.
