Architectural education program offered in English by the Faculty of Architecture of Near East University was accredited by the Architectural Accreditation Board (MIAK) of which headquarter is in Turkey.
The Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University released that Architectural Education Program offered in English by NEU Faculty of Architecture was accredited by the Architectural Accreditation Board (MIAK) in Turkey. The press release underlines that accreditation is a process that requires an educational institution or program to meet certain and defined standards or criteria. The press release notes that Accreditation Board of the Architectural Schools Committee had an assessment meeting at Near East University and decided to accredit the Architectural Education Program offered in English by the Faculty of Architecture of Near East University.
Near East University vice Rector Professor Mustafa KURT delivered information regarding the accreditation process: "The accreditation and quality assessment for architectural program offered in English by NEU Faculty of Architecture covers a two-year process. The accrediting process requires an assessment by the institution regarding the preparation and submission of preliminary assessment reports concerning the educational and research activities, an evaluation of the self-assessment by MIAK, and an on-site visit and review conducted by an audit commission consisting of 5 people from different universities in Turkey. The report prepared by the audit commission is submitted to MIAK for decision".
Highlighting the importance of such accreditations in demonstrating the quality assurance in education of an educational institution, vice Rector Professor Mustafa KURT notes that MIAK is a premium organ that takes place in Architectural Schools Quality Assurance System. "In this regard, MIAK accreditation of the architectural education program offered in English by NEU Faculty of Architecture is a clear indicator that the quality of education and research activities conducted by Near East University corresponds to the same level achieved by the leading universities in Turkey".
