Near East University and Shiraz Technology University, one of the important universities of Iran, signed an academic cooperation protocol

With the academic cooperation protocol signed between Near East University and Shiraz Technology University, one of the important universities of Iran, Near East University added a new one to the collaborations it has developed with international universities and institutions. The academic cooperation protocol was signed after the visit of Shiraz University of Technology Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Alavianmehr and his accompanying delegation to the Near East University. The protocol covers a wide range of topics, from sharing information on cooperation to organizing joint conferences and seminars, the exchange of undergraduate and graduate students between the two universities, the exchange of faculty members, the creation of joint dual degree programs, joint research and publication, and exchange of library resources.

In the first step of the protocol, which entered into force with the signature of Shiraz University of Technology Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Alavianmehr and Near East University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, student and academic staff exchanges will begin between the two universities. In addition, Shiraz University of Technology and Near East University agreed to organize an international conference on “Earthquake Control” on the Near East University campus.

Shiraz University of Technology, which was established in 2004 and became one of the most important universities in Iran in a short time, is in the 501-600 band in the “World Universities 2023” list published by the international higher education rating agency Times Higher Education. It is ranked 140th in the “Young Universities 2022” list of the same institution.

Saying that they were very impressed by the observations they made on the Near East University campus, Shiraz Technology University Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Alavianmehr said, “The projects implemented by the Near East University, the laboratory infrastructure it has, the number and quality of the publications they have produced are very impressive.”

Expressing his gratitude to Near East University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt and university officials for their hospitality, Prof. Dr. Alavianmehr said, “We want to take important steps in the academic field and in joint project development by quickly realizing this cooperation, which I believe will make an important contribution to both institutions.”


Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt: “Our University’s University 4.0 vision largely overlaps with Shiraz University of Technology, one of the most important universities in Iran.”
Reminding that Near East University considers transforming knowledge into a product for the benefit of society with its vision of University 4.0, Near East University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt said, “This approach largely coincides with Shiraz University of Technology, one of the most important universities in Iran. I believe that the cooperation protocol we signed will create important results at this point.”

Thanking Shiraz University of Technology Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Alavianmehr and the accompanying delegation for their visit, Prof. Dr. Kurt said, “We will establish a strong science bridge stretching from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to Iran by putting the academic cooperation protocol that we signed with Shiraz Technology University into practice without wasting time.”
