Near East University and Sebha University signed an academic cooperation protocol to contribute to the consolidation of friendship between the TRNC and Libya

Near East University signed another important international academic cooperation protocol with Sebha University, one of the most important universities in Libya. With the protocol signed by Near East University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt and Sebha University Rector Prof. Dr. Masoud E. Alragig, cooperation will be made between the two universities in academic studies and research.

It was emphasized that the cooperation between universities made significant contributions to cultural enrichment, scientific progress and the consolidation of friendship between countries, joint scientific studies, global public education and cultural cooperation.

With the protocol signed during Sebha University Rector Prof. Dr. Masoud E. Alragig’s visit to the Near East University with the accompanying delegation, it is aimed to create strong bonds between the practitioners, researchers and students of the two universities. Thus, while the results of joint research will be transformed into joint publications, the experience will be transferred between the two universities.


Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt: “While integrating our researchers and students with the world, we offer our scientific knowledge to the service of humanity with the cooperation protocols we signed with different institutions from many countries of the world, together with institutions with different cultures and scientific backgrounds.”
Stating that with the academic cooperation protocol signed with Sebha University, Near East University has added a new one to more than 150 international cooperations Near East University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt emphasized that Near East University aims to increase scientific productivity and efficiency by cooperating with universities and institutes from many countries of the world.

Reminding that Near East University is listed as the best university of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the lists published by important international higher education rating institutions such as Times Higher Education, ODTÜ URAP, AD Scientific Index and Shanghai Ranking, Prof. Dr. Kurt said, “While integrating our researchers and students with the world, with the cooperation protocols we signed with different institutions having various cultural and scientific backgrounds from many countries of the world, we offer our scientific knowledge to the service of humanity. The protocol we signed with Sebha University is one of the important examples of this.”


Prof. Dr. Masoud E. Alragig: “With our visit, we have witnessed the impressive achievements of the Near East University. We want to develop cooperation with the Near East University on every subject by immediately making the protocol we signed operational.”

Emphasizing that they were very impressed with the size, infrastructure, facilities and academic achievements of the Near East University, Sebha University Rector Prof. Dr. Masoud E. Alragig said, “With our visit, we had the chance to see these impressive achievements on site. We want to develop cooperation with the Near East University in every field by immediately making the cooperation protocol we signed operational.”

Saying that Sabha University is the best and largest university in Libya, Prof. Dr. Masoud E. Alragig said, “We believe that we can develop important collaborations with the Near East University, especially in the fields of medicine and engineering. Student and faculty exchange programs will also strengthen the two institutions.”
