Özay Günsel Children's University Secretary-General Duygu Kaptanoğlu Çoskun and Nerita Senior Technology Transfer Specialist Şefik Emre Coşkun took part in the jury of the online tournament held within the scope of the project of "Next Generation Science" which is carried out by Global Intelligence Association in cooperation with Turkey Ministry of Youth and Sports and GIZ German International Cooperation Agency.

Within the scope of the tournament organized on the basis of the Replay theme, which is the official theme of FLL 2021, teams consisting of Turkish and Syrian children made presentations to the juries on their "Innovative Projects, Core Values and Teaming Abilities and Robotic Designs". The project and tournament aim to support Turkish and refugee communities to develop perspectives for peaceful coexistence and to support youth and children to develop competencies and skills in accordance with the needs of the 21st century. Özay Günsel Children's University Secretary-General Duygu Kaptanoğlu Coşkun and Near East University NERITA Senior Technology Transfer Specialist Şefik Emre Coşkun also represented their universities by taking part in the jury of the tournament.

What is an Online Tournament?
Next Generation Science (NGS) Project is an educational project where Turkish and Syrian youth learn and apply next generation science standards in 5 Youth Centers located in Ankara, Bursa, Gaziantep and Kahramanmaraş. Within the scope of the project, training including EV3 Mindstorms, Arduino, MicroBit, 3D Design, Tournament Processes, and new generation science standards was organized for 120 participants in 5 centers. Trainer candidates consisting of 8 vocational high school teachers, 8 youth center leaders/employees and 8 Syrian / foreign volunteers attended the training in each center. 10 teams formed in each youth center within the project are preparing to participate in First Lego League tournaments. Despite the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament was organized online in order for the teams to gain experience.
