Orhan Aydın, Chairman of the Board of OSTİM, one of Turkey’s largest organized industrial zones, and OSTIM Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Yülek visited the Near East University to obtain information on the projects developed on the Near East University campus, especially the TRNC’s domestic car GÜNSEL and the COVID-19 PCR Diagnosis and Variant Analysis kit. During the visit, where the Near East University Innovation and Informatics Center and the Grand Library were also visited, a cooperation protocol was signed between the two universities to carry out joint scientific publication, research and product development projects.

In addition to the joint research activities of the two universities, within the scope of the protocol that entered into force with the signatures of Near East University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ and OSTIM Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Yülek, cooperation will also be carried out in exchange of students, scientific resources, researchers, lecturers and administrative members and both universities will collaborate to organize bilateral academic programs, joint international workshops, conferences and seminars.

Emphasizing that Near East University has great experience and knowledge in turning scientific studies carried out in many fields into products, OSTIM Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Yülek said, “As OSTİM Technical University, one of our most important goals is to turn scientific projects into products in cooperation with our companies in our industrial zone, with the vision of an industrial university.”

Stating that the cooperation protocol with the Near East University will also make significant contributions to this goal, Prof. Dr. Yülek said, “We will establish a strong innovation bridge between Ankara and Nicosia by making the cooperation protocol we signed operational.”

Near East University’s research, innovation and product development experience and the industrial power of OSTIM Technical University will create significant opportunities for Turkey and the TRNC.
