Near East University academics alone produced 50.5% of the 3,019 scientific articles published in 2021 by TRNC universities in journals scanned by Web of Science and Scopus.

Near East University continues to represent the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the scientific world. The Near East University, which has successfully implemented many projects such as the TRNC’s domestic car GÜNSEL, the local PCR Diagnosis and Variant Analysis Kit, the protective nasal spray Olirin, ranks high in the top rankings of the world universities published by higher education rating institutions such as Times Higher Education, AD Scientific and URAP with its high academic performance.

Near East University academics produced 50.5% of the 3,019 scientific articles published in 2021 by the TRNC universities in journals scanned by Web of Science and Scopus. Near East University, which published 1,525 articles in 2021, became the only university in this field that exceeded the thousand limit. The following university received a 23.2% share with 703 articles.

Reminding that Near East University is among the top 250 universities in the world in the fields of “engineering” and “computer sciences” in the ranking of the world’s best universities published by Times Higher Education, one of the higher education rating institutions, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “We were ranked 552nd among 15,175 universities in the world, in the list of the best scientists and universities in the world by AD Scientific Index. In Europe, we ranked 230th among the top 250 universities in Europe where 3,126 universities included continentally.

Stating that behind this success lies the high capacity of producing science that the Near East University has with its competent academic staff and research opportunities. Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “The fact that 50.5 percent of the 3,019 scientific articles scanned in Web of Science and Scopus published by the universities of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in 2021 was produced by the Near East University alone is one of the most important indicators of its capacity to produce science.”
