Prof. Dr. Nevzat Kaya discussed how myths shape social communication at the “Myths and Communication” seminar organized by the Near East University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Department of Business Administration.

Lecturer Prof. Dr. Nevzat Kaya from Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Letters, Department of Comparative Literature was the guest of the “Myth and Communication” seminar organized by the Near East University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business Administration.

At the seminar moderated by Near East University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Faculty Member Assist. Prof. Dr. Tijen Zeybek, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Kaya discussed how myths, which have become important codes of social communication, have shaped people’s cultures, beliefs, values and lives. Emphasizing that myths based on stories shaped by the beliefs of a particular culture or society, and the myths formed by them, are still important social communication tools. Prof. Dr. Nevzat Kaya shared information about the current usage of myths, their importance and the social sections they affected. Prof. Dr. Kaya said, “Through myths, we can say that a community builds the ability to take a thought into account by standardizing it for the first time.”

Stating that myths are as old as human history and they created the first socialization codes, Prof. Dr. Kaya said, “As a matter of fact, myths are the first mass media that aim to make sense of the world,” Stating that myths are stories based on the actions of gods or heroes, the beliefs of a particular culture or society, they are transmitted orally and are worthy because of the metaphors they bear. Prof. Dr. Nevzat Kaya emphasized that while the myths and the mythos they create continue to shape people, they provide important clues about the historical transformation of people and societies.
