Music Teaching Department of Near East University attended the 2nd International Kodaly Education Days

Having been organized by Marmara University with the support of the Consulate General of Hungary in Istanbul and the Hungarian Cultural Center, the 2nd International Istanbul Kodály Education Days were held between 18 and 21 September 2019. The Istanbul Kodály Education Days have a crucial role in promoting and disseminating Kodály Music Education Approach and its applicability in schools on music education.

Faculty members and students from the Music Teaching Section of the Department of Fine Arts of Atatürk Faculty of Education of Near East University participated in the 2nd International Istanbul Kodály Education Days, where trainings that grouped under five main headings were attended and supported by internationally recognized artists and educators from Kodály Institute.

Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University released that Assistant Professor Emine Kıvanç Öztuğ, Assistant Professor Hakkı Cengiz Eren, Expert Gözdem İlkay, Expert İlias Abdoulline and Expert Neriman Soykunt, faculty members of the Music Teaching Department, along with their students participated in the 4-day lasting trainings on Kodály Music Education Approach that implemented under five main headings.


Developed by Hungarian composer Zoltan Kodaly, Kodaly Music Education Approach is a learning method that combines music and dance to ensure active participation. Within the scope of Kodály Music Education Approach, the workshops and master-classes that grouped under five main headings; “Choir and Choir Conducting”, “Solfeggio Training”, “Kokas Pedagogy”, “Class Music Education” and “Instrument Training”, were delivered during the 4-day lasting event by internationally recognized artists and educators from Kodály Institute and by highly recognized Kodály experts.
