Motorsports Now Under the Assurance of Near East University Hospital!

Near East University Hospital has become the health sponsor of the Northern Cyprus Touring and Automobile Association (KKTOK). The health of athletes in case of health problems during races and training will be entrusted to Near East University Hospital.

Near East University Hospital and the Northern Cyprus Touring and Automobile Association (KKTOK) signed a comprehensive health cooperation protocol aiming to bring athlete health and safety in motorsports to international standards. The protocol, which came into effect with a ceremony held at Near East University Hospital, was officially signed by Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, and Tigin Kişmir, President of KKTOK. Near East University Hospital also undertakes the health sponsorship of football, gymnastics, hunting, kickboxing, and Muay Thai federations.

International health standards will be applied in motorsports

Within the scope of the protocol, Near East University Hospital will provide athletes with fast and effective medical services in accordance with international motorsport safety standards during races, training, and sporting events organized by KKTOK. Fully equipped ambulances and professional medical teams will be on standby at the events. Emergency interventions will be carried out on the track. Athletes will also receive treatment at the Near East University Hospital, Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia University Hospital, and Near East University Yeniboğaziçi Hospital, utilizing their fully equipped infrastructure and competent medical staff.

Comprehensive health screenings will be conducted for athletes!

KKTOK executives, employees, and athletes covered by the protocol will also benefit from discounted rates on health services outside of competitions. Special discounts will also be applied to dental services offered at the Near East University Dental Hospital and Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia University Dental Hospital.

Furthermore, in accordance with motorsport licensing procedures, athletes will undergo health screenings including cardiological evaluation, neurological examination, vision and hearing tests, and laboratory tests. These screenings will be conducted in compliance with FIA licensing criteria.

Basic first aid, trauma, and emergency intervention training will be organized for referees, officials, and athletes within the framework of the protocol. This aims to increase health awareness and strengthen intervention capacity at the events.

Emphasizing that they view sports as a holistic area of development encompassing health, education, scientific monitoring, and infrastructure investments, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Near East Enterprises, said, “The health sponsorships we undertake in various branches are an important reflection of this strategic approach. Stating that motorsports are among the branches where health and safety infrastructure must be at the highest level, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “This comprehensive cooperation protocol we signed with the Northern Cyprus Touring and Automobile Association will protect the health of our athletes in accordance with the international standards.” Günsel said, “We believe that this collaboration with KKTOK will make significant contributions to the development of motorsports in our country under safer conditions; we wish our athletes, organizing teams, and all stakeholders a healthy, safe, and successful season.”

Tigin Kişmir: “Thanks to this protocol, the health and safety of our athletes has been secured according to institutional and international standards.”

Emphasizing that the signed protocol is a significant turning point for athlete health, KKTOK President Tigin Kişmir stated that health and safety during competitions and training will now be addressed under a stronger, more institutional, and sustainable structure. Kişmir said, “Thanks to this protocol, the health and safety of our athletes during competitions and training periods will be secured according to institutional and international standards.”

Kişmir stated that KKTOK meticulously fulfills all its responsibilities throughout the organizations, and that this process has been placed on a much more solid foundation thanks to the collaboration established with Near East University Hospital. “We take all necessary precautions during the races and the organization. However, the support of a strong and well-equipped healthcare institution like Near East University Hospital gives us even greater strength in terms of the safety of our athletes.” said Kişmir, emphasizing that this collaboration is an important gain not only for current organizations but also for future events.
