METU URAP “World University Rankings” has been announced: Near East University, which is among the top 10 universities in Turkey, is one of the two best foundation universities together with Koç University!

URAP, operating within the Middle East Technical University Informatics Institute, announced the “2023-2024 World University Rankings”. URAP’s list, which evaluated 3,000 universities around the world, included 119 universities from Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. In the ranking, Near East University, which was ranked as the best university in Cyprus, was also among the top 10 universities in Turkey. Near East University, which has risen 112 places worldwide compared to last year, was shown as one of the two best foundation universities, together with Koç University, among foundation universities in the same evaluation.

METU URAP, which aims to rank universities according to their scientific productivity and academic quality, based its research on six criteria: number of articles, number of citations, total number of scientific documents, total publication impact, total citation impact and international cooperation. In the study where 3,500 universities around the world were evaluated, 3,000 universities that received the highest scores were included in the “2023-2024 World University Rankings”.

Near East University is among the top 10 universities in Türkiye!
In the ranking announced by METU Urap, 3,000 universities around the world and 119 universities from Turkey and TRNC were included in the evaluation. The top 10 positions among Turkish universities were shared by Hacettepe University, Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Istanbul University, Ankara University, Middle East Technical University, Koç University, Istanbul Cerrahpaşa University, Gazi University, Ege University and Near East University. Near East University also became one of the two foundation universities in the top 10 in Turkey, together with Koç University!

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, who expressed his pride in being among the top 10 in Turkey as one of the two best foundation universities in the “2023-2024 World University Rankings” announced by URAP, which operates as part of the Middle East Technical University Informatics Institute. Reminding that Near East University is among the best universities in the world in the rankings published by many reference institutions such as The Times Higher Education, AD Scientific Index, ShanghaiRanking, US News & World Report, as well as the ranking published by METU URAP, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “While our country leads the transformation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus into an island of education, we will continue to study and produce to make significant contributions to world science as an international university with approximately 30 thousand students from 143 countries.”

Emphasizing their scientific productivity, Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, in his statement, emphasized that they host more than a thousand national and international events every year and reach 1,700 scientific publications annually with their strong academic staff, and said that this success is not a coincidence. “The collaborations we have developed with many institutions around the world, our research centers that continue their studies with a multidisciplinary approach in which we combine different expertise in the same pot, and the research and projects we carry out with a vision of ensuring the integration of innovative technologies into traditional fields, have a decisive role in this success.”
