Medical Students Association of Northern Cyprus (MSANC) hosted 50 medical students from 13 countries in the TRNC within the scope of its international internship exchange program!

Operating with the support of the Near East University Dean of Students Office, the Medical Students Association of Northern Cyprus (MSANC) continues to bring together medical students studying in different countries of the world in the TRNC.
As a full member of the International Federation of Medical Student Associations (IFMSA), MSANC is a part of the “International Internship Exchange Program”, it hosted 50 medical students from 13 different countries including Italy, Sweden, Finland, Spain, Russia, Brazil, Slovakia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Hungary, Mexico, Czech Republic, Ireland and Argentina in the TRNC.

Students who did internships in the clinical departments of Near East University Hospital were involved in many applied and practical medical applications.


Students, who experienced the culture of the TRNC during their two-month internship, visited historical places in Kyrenia, Famagusta, Nicosia, Güzelyurt and İskele. The visiting students had the opportunity to experience Turkish Cypriot culture, from dance to food, through cultural events.

Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum Yavuz: “Medical faculty students studying abroad felt at home in the multicultural structure of Near East University.”
Stating that they are happy to host university students studying medicine in different countries of the world at Near East University, Near East University Dean of Student Office Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum Yavuz said, “Near East University has an international university identity with students from 143 countries of the world. Medical faculty students studying abroad also felt at home in this multicultural structure.”

Prof. Dr. Özkum stated that the Northern Cyprus Medical Students Association, which brings international students studying medicine together in the TRNC, especially at the Near East University Faculty of Medicine, has carried out an important task and said, “As the Students’ Office at Near East University, we will continue to support our students with all our means and opportunities and bring them together with the world.”

Sara Darweesh: “The international medical students we hosted had many experiences not only in education and science but also in cultural and social areas.”
Sara Darweesh, President of the Medical Students Association of Northern Cyprus, said that students from different cultures who study medicine around the world came together and gained professional and cultural experiences with the International Internship Exchange Program and said, “50 medical students from 13 countries, whom we hosted in the TRNC within the scope of the internship program, came to Near East University Hospital. They gained experience by obtaining important information from the well-equipped infrastructure and expert staff of the Near East University Office of Students’ Dean. Sara Darweesh thanked Dudu Özkum Yavuz and all the academicians who supported her and said, “Our exchange program this year was one of the best programs of IFMSA.”
